This is it exactly. I hate seeing old and quirky, even if it's often sketchy, getting knocked over to make way for yet another Starbucks, cell phone store, or McDonald's.

It could easily have been the inspiration for the SNL Waffle House skit, and that was just at breakfast...
I took this photo at a Key Largo, FL waffle house after xmas in 2018, and I'm not sure why. But who doesn't love a waffle?

Wow! So much riding and photographing goodness going on today. I managed to get in two different photo runs today, although the GL was primarily hitting the ol' Last Chance Liquors.

I'm starting to get really attuned to things that would be good pictures and, more importantly, remembering them so I can come back and get a picture or two.

Gives me some ideas for Vespa photos…Not much urban decay in my neck of the woods, but plenty of creepy abandoned farm houses. Not a Vespa, but a trip to
Beetlejuice Town.

It's so nice out there on the South Shore. Must be excellent riding on the back roads. The water sure can be cold!

Lone scooter this year. There were a hand full of 250cc motorcycles, and the Rally is faster than some of those. Rally is faster than most of the 500-850cc bikes on the twisty, rough, and dirt roads... May explain my flat and broken cowl pin.

Tom's the best. Legend has it he's living in a simple shack near the Sonoma coast, surviving on surplus WWI rations he found on the beach and distilling bourbon on a campfire.

The no-hands shot blows me away.

When I was a kid, I could ride my bike no-hands for literally miles on end, including turns and coming to an almost complete stop. We used to compete who could ride the longest/farthest no-hands.

Today, I don't think I could do it for half a second.

Great pics. Keep 'em coming!

(I was going to get out for another batch of photos with signs yesterday, but Mother Nature had other plans)

Such gorgeous weather today required a nice long scooter ride all over chasing down random errands and chores, no way to take the dang car today when I can haul what I need in my cargo bag.
I stopped to snap this pic of some of the exotic wildlife that we have in our neighborhood.

It is a combination headset guard and more rigid mirror mount that is fairly common in Greece but I've never seen elsewhere. I like them a lot because they virtually eliminate the vibration and fuzzy image I get with most usual setups, and look good doing it.

I heard that the company that made them went out of business. I've seen them in various sizes from smallframe to P200. I wanted one big enough for my P200 and finally made one of my own.

A couple of the originals I copied and the prototype of a bigger one for my P.

The first one I got on this smallie 13 years ago and the finished one I made for the P.

Back outta the workshop! Rough choppy ride but we made it back home without any major issues.
Quick trip to my wife's office to sign a paper so she can take our son to Italy next week. He was supposed to go over spring break but decided to spend that whole week in the hospital.

Glad that he must be match fit now for a trip to Italy. He'll love it. Wonder if they'll see many classic two-stroke scoots around -- there are far fewer on the streets but still some hiding here and there.

Good to hear your boy is making the postponed Italy trip, I'm sure he'll be looking for Vespas to report back to you. Mean while it's been super Vespa busy around here lately and I got a photo bomb to unload starting yesterday evening...

Thanks Eric, a swell day and please give me your GS160!
First up, a political action event about widening our local main roadway to thre lanes both ways adding bus lanes to shorten commute times at the expense of 400 mature trees and some property condemnation for right of way adjacent to Lake Washington.

Actually I lied, it's a tribute SS90 built on a Bluebadge frame w/ repop SS90 pieces - not too bad a job, but sadly immediately broke the amazingly powerful motor on our first ride here . :(

So we loaded his dead bike on my truck and went to his place. Then a local tour, he rode his REAL SS90 and me on his GS160 which I fell in love with so HARD!

He lives near the Lake Washington Ship Canal, that's the Aurora Bridge over it, a main route into the city from the north.
