This time I got pictures! It's fresh out of my garage in finally ridable condition. I put my first consecutive 8 miles today... After 3 months of work, on a 65 degree rainy day of Chicago, the day has finally arrived. Don't judge, I haven't polished it yet (and spedo still don't work, but the odometer does)

I just noticed that much like the legendary Bajaj glovebox and volcano speedometer, your horncast also protrudes much further than any plain old ordinary Vespa .

It was out and about in Vietnam 1969, this scoot might be in somebody's lounge now with trinkets and bondo aplenty . Hope these guys survived that terrible war; it's a great photo .

I found another Nutmobile this morning.

Wow , how do those vehicles get safety approval to get on the road in the USA ; great pic. Is that your scoot chandler ? Love it .

Vehicle standards are set at a state level in the US, and many states don't even require a basic safety inspection, much less German-grade Homogulation.

It's built on an old van chassis (The Nutmobile, not my scooter). I saw an article (PR plant) about it a while back.

We also have the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, which is much more famous. There are several of them and they are all built on old 70's land yacht chassis, although there's a new one built on, I think, a Class B truck chassis.

One of my wife's friends spent a summer driving the Weinermobile around as a college intern. She loved it.

"driving the Weinermobile"...I bet! haha

So, no photo with the scooter, but one of these bad boys passed me going the other direction last week.


L.L. Bean Bootmobiles

If one of those boots passed me going the other way, I'd have whipped it around to catch them and get a picture in a heartbeat.

Of course, given this is Nashville, we have our own local Nutzmobile (NSFL, most likely also NSFW).

I had a few hours so I did my favorite run up the coast. The Oregon Coast is busy this time of year so there was lots of traffic. It was a nice easy cruise.


This is in a gated housing neighborhood north of Florence called Southview. Gates can't stop Ruby though....

The sea Lion caves are a famous landmark on the coast. Ride down in an elevator to a big ole stinky cave with lots of barking seals, depending on the season

I had a random Thursday off work. After puttering around the house and shed I went to the grocery store.
Mostly just an excuse to ride the Vespa.


Turned a 4 mile round trip into about 25 miles of fun.

First (vespa) ride in many days, and it was an early evening run today. Skies were a little smoky again after some monsoon rains in the U.S. northeast yesterday.

We have an industrial history around here. This time I checked out the antique fairgrounds complex with the hazy sun setting just beyond it and also the Museum of Our Industrial Heritage and the now repurposed (maybe?) Greenfield Steel Stamp Works on the Green River.

After that, night was falling and then out came the autumn fog.

Those buildings look like it's straight out of the midlands in the UK!

Indiana is Allstate country. .

Thanks dear! It was the best thing that happens with me for last month.

Not only Vespas but LML too left the house for Saturday city ride.

Was out getting my daily dose of Canadian wildfire smoke and scoot wanted to play the tourist.


Mayflower II

Sister cities, maybe? And also similar eras in time during the 1800s industrialization. The red museum building (built in 1835) was later moved here from across the street. The brick ones were added 1870s-1890s for factory space.

This neighborhood is called Cheapside Landing and was first industrialized as early as 1699, when it was part of the town of Deerfield (located to the south of present Greenfield.)

Anyway, it was a prize spot because two local rivers (named Deerfield and Green) link to the big ol' Connecticut River which flows south to the Atlantic Ocean.

The towns Greenfield and Deerfield fought over Cheapside Landing's control for about 150 years! The dispute was settled in 1896 and Greenfield won. Yay!
