What do you wear on your legs?
First layer is thermal underwear. Then jeans with fleece and Tucano Urbano Termoscud or Tucano Urbano Panta-Fast.

Lovely day here Sunday -- sixty-something degrees outside was the spark for a desperate errand: We were thirsty for a 6-pack of local brewskis.

I stopped at Four Phantoms Brewing Co. in Greenfield (their motto, "Drink Beer, Worship Doom") for Battle Standard lager and stopped to admire the old concrete plant hiding just behind the trees and Amtrak railroad tracks.

It might all fit, or it would be close at least. I need to test the tallboy capacity at some point. What I otherwise do is just dangle a small cloth bag off of the handle bars, in front of knees. It's dorkier, I know.

Oh my God!!!

That is just unbelievably Hard-Core!!! Damn!! The old P's still never cease to amaze me what work-horse bikes these are!!

But, seriously though, how did you even end up in that weather? I mean, when you took it out, was it not already freezing then?

I am just trying to understand why you would not park it for the night and call a cab? I mean, Jesus, I thought I was pretty bad ass, but that shit just puts me to shame.

Glad you made it home in one piece! 40 km! Damn! Come on though you must of been clenching your (frozen) jaws the whole way.

Damn! I am officially impressed and I really shouldnt be because is that not just courting danger? Please tell me next time you will leave the bike at home instead of spinning out in the frozen tundra!! Or, call an Uber.

I mean what if you did lay it down? What is your life expectancy at those temperatures? Let's hope we never have to find out. Once again, trusty piaggio pulls through when you need it most.

I was riding 5 last winters. My personal record is -12º C. And lot of riding in snow. Or in the cold rain which immediately turns into ice.

Another mural.
FINALLY a great day to ride. Whoever wrote the song, "it never rains in Southern California" was full of shit. It rains here, especially when you really want it not to.

This mural happened to be in front of Elliott Smith's recording studio, before he committed suicide (or murdered? idk) in 2003.
He stepped outside and that's the pic for the cover of his Figure 8 album. For years there were flowers and candles there. If you Google Elliott Smith memorial wall there's lots there.
It's been painted over many times, and now cut in half by the creeps-owned bar that took over the studio.

Nice subject for a ride photo, Ray. I didn't know that this album artwork had a location in the physical world.

My then-girlfriend (now wife) and I were lucky to see E.S. perform in fall 1998 at the famed Tramps in NYC. The club warned people to be real quiet or he wouldn't play. It all worked out fine. That was a great nightclub... now sadly gone, too.

Holy frig it's nice out today. This whole week is supposed to be gorgeous aside from yesterday. Didn't stop for any murals today but I did get a nice view towards City Hall. Shoulda stopped by the Rocky statue and taken a pic though.

Did notice my temps got up to 340° on my ride. 1/4 throttle position cruising at 7100 rpms and looked down and saw 340°, haven't seen it over 300 before. My temp sensor is installed into the cylinder head so I know it's going to be higher than an under the plug sensor. Wasn't expecting 340 though. Aside from that I was stoked on how well it ran, even said to myself dang this pup is running really nice today.

Had her out 2 weeks ago and it was horrible. Lots of choppiness all over the throttle range so I came home to check the jets, they were clear. Put them back in and waited for the next nice day. Today. Ran remarkably better. Dunno.
Gorgeous out there.

Cheating a bit in this post as far as Vespas leaving the house.

I found a shot of my first one. This was 1988 when I was about 19, and the bike lived on the sidewalk. Snapped outside of my 1st apartment, located on Natoma Street in San Francisco's south of Market district.

The engine cowl is scraped and dented -- this was after my first crash but before my second, which totaled the frame.

Finally good weather up here, so made my way up to Portland over the weekend, rode through the city, out west to the hills, then south to st. Paul and back up home (about 80 miles round-trip)

Stopped by Beaverton harley to flex on the Sunday riders, went inside to window shop helmets, came outside and had a crowd of guys looking over my ride!! they were all impressed 😂

Keep it shiny side up fellas 👍🏻

Today we scouted a route and found a tavern for our forthcoming Vespa Club's annual gathering on May 26th. We took some scenic routes to an old monastery that's currently under renovation and then we ate at a small village tavern. Total of 40Kms in mountain roads. And of course, an ice cream to end our day...
