Griffith Observatory.
Ride through here at least once a week to maintain sanity.

G. Griffith, born and raised in Wales, donated the largest city park space in the US to "promote the health" of LA's citizens in 1896.
Left in his will the $ to build the observatory, before the city got lit up a few decades later and made it useless. There's a Tesla coil in there, that they used to fire up at certain hours. It would make your hair stand up if you were close enough.

Riding weather and time to get old AllState out of the back shed. It just needed a fresh plug and some air in the tires then some kicks til it fired up. It is still damn quick, much fun pulling away from stop signs.

Now that the GL is back in business, I took it out for a little ride. I got cut short, though, because I stopped to get gas and didn't have enough 2T for what I had already put in the tank, so I babied it home to add more 2T and then decided that 96 and high humidity is not actually very good riding weather.

Usually the stations have at least marine 2T, I've grabbed a bottle of that when I failed to carry enough with me.

I love this thread so much. We have so many cool looking scoots and so many fun places to take them, which I think often gets overlooked in all the technical minutiae (not that I don't love the technical minutiae, maybe to a fault ).

I now keep an eye out whenever I'm riding for a good spot to pull over and shoot a quick picture or two, which just adds to the fun.

A few photos of our recent trip to Niš in Serbia for their 3rd National Vespa meeting. A 1100Km roundtrip in 4 days (23rd to 26th of June). We had rain, hail, fuel delivery issues but nothing "broke" our spirit. We were 7 participants (6 Vespas) from our Club and a total of 39 from Greece. We had a really great time. The meeting was organized by Vespa Club Naissus and it was excellent in all aspects. Great food, lots of beer, music and great people...

And a link of our Club's FB post with a lot more photos...

This is the exact reason I started the thread! Lots of technical minutiae and builds and such. Felt we were lacking pics of the builds actually outside doing what they were made to do.

Well, huh...light blue Allstate with a legshield spotlight? Your Tomax to my Xamot scooter. Perhaps our scooters suffer from The Corsican Syndrome? Your engine runs lean, which makes mine seize up?

I'm getting out and hitting the local murals. Nashville LOVES its murals.
Here's a throwback. I actually met bettie page at the supermarket!

It was 2001 or so, and she was behind me in the check out line. I thought maybe it was her but didn't say anything.

At the time I was driving a slammed 53 Ford, all stupid so cal style shaved handles and no trim. I was putting my bags away and she rolled by and was all: cool car. So I quipped back: thanks bettie Mae, that means a lot from someone like you.

Froze in her tracks.

Turned and came back. You know who I am?

Yeah. The eyes never lie.

Then we wrapped out for like 1/2 an hour.

She was gracious, and funny and lively and hilariously foul mouthed— for a for a woman in her late 70's!

That's awesome!

I've met a few celebrities over the years in various capacities and found that they all had their public personae and their real personae, and the two were frequently miles apart.

Much of the time, if you engage with them as people and not their public personae, you'll get the real person once they decide you're not some sort of stalker or weirdo. Of course, I can think of a few where they really were their public image, and that's not a compliment.

And since I had to go past Grimey's (famous Nashville record store/venue), I stopped and took a picture there, too.
