Today Chris dropped all the moving shenanigans to ride one more time on the coast (to Yachats) before moving to Florida - he leaves later this week.

Y'all will be happy to know, coffee, scones, cand burritos were involved, as well as awesome coastal riding.

I'm gonna miss my riding buddy...

Give JJ partial credit; it's a vertical Minarelli. The chassis may say Yamaha, but the block is marked Moto Minarelli - Made In Italy all over the joint. Considering that the newest model of that scoot was an '01, it's starting to get old. Will qualify for vintage plates next year in several states.
Hah! That's awesome. My knowledge falls of pretty fast once you get outside the shifties, but that thing is a fun liittle ride, even after all the abuse we've put it through out at his place, at Band Camp, or wherever else we're channeling our Inner Thirteen Year Olds.

JJ has a fleet of beat-to-hell little bikes like that which we get together and basically ride to death, then get them sorted (enough) to do it again next time we get together.

I took one of them out onto the paved road because I was curious how much of the horrible ride was what we've done to the bike and how much was the terrain and it was mostly the bike. ROFL emoticon We kept riding them anyway.

Life is too short to not have fun doing it, even if we were all paying the price pretty hard on Sunday. I made more than one stop for Gatorade on the way home, too.

So I fitted a random P150 pipe to it and it still takes off like a little rocket ship! Then decided to fix a few things and pimp it out just a little - replace black rubber floor mats and leggy trim with the original style aluminum stuff.

A test ride through the neighborhood was now required to see if anything falls off.
I'd take that elk head in a second! Whether it would end up on my shop's wall of my friend's shop wall, it would have been a great accessory.

the 2025 Lambretta Jamboree is in Eugene, Oregon next year, July 17-20, so I'll be out there for that and can probably add an extra day on one side.

Oregon 100 would be hard for me in any case, because if it's late August every year, that's my anniversary. Plus getting scooters & gear out to Oregon for camping would be a bit tricky.

Which sucks because it all looks awesome. I'll have to get it figured out at some point.
I'm planning on being there…if i have my Lammy assembled by then.

Some bling parts inside the engine as well!…Casa 5 speed, LTH clutch. Also a variable DC VAPE ignition. The top end is a Mugello 230 with a reed valve conversion, Delly PHBH 30, and a SIP clubsport silent. I have an old Kegra KRP 1 (same as a JL 1 Road) that i really wanted to use it, but i was told that the clubsport would work better with my particular engine build. I'm after more of a touring setup.

I installed a BMG 225 RT kit with a Varitronic ignition many years ago and it was time for a refresh and i also wanted a bit more torque. The engine has been disassembled for quite a few years. I've been slowing gathering parts over the years, and had a friend do the reed conversion and assemble the 5 speed transmission since he already had the cases at his shop.

Thank you! I had it powdercoated gold vein (i think back around 2008?). It took a looooong time for me to gather up all the gold anodized parts. I waited about 3 years for Casa Performance to make another batch of their gold colored disc brake kits and Casa Coolers, then paid a premium for shipping from Oiltek.

Based on CHT observations from my road trip this past weekend, I'm going to try a static CDI on my Lammy. I'll start a thread on that once I have a chance to do some more formal measurements, but the TL;DR: is that it was materially hotter at lower RPM's, even with the same AFR ratio (~13:1). Which meant I just had to ride faster Razz emoticon

I have a flyscreen that will go on and rethinking the front rack since it's one to drill into the legshield. Have some stadium mirrors to make a little mod mobile if that rack goes on.

I pretty much always have at least two scooter builds going on all the time. I can build 3~4 Vespas in the same time it takes one Lammy. It's just now the Lammy's turn to get put back into rotation. The initial build was back around 2008? Most of the time it was hidden and not ridden. During the summer i would ride it, but since it rains about 9 months out of the year here in oregon i would make sure it only came out on the dry days.

Somebody recreated Baby Round Head last week, so I had to get a fresh shot of it this weekend.

By the time I got there, it had been "enhanced" with the white and yellow, but I think it was a net gain.

And I wholly agree with the suggestion by the smile. There's nothing like leaving your own borders to give you some real perspective on the planet and its inhabitants.

As I was going back through this thread (SO SO SO many good pictures in here ), I found a few of my other pictures in front of local buildings and it's kind've mindblowing how many of them have fallen prey to the bulldozers.

Got out for a bit of scooter time today. Took some long back roads around Douglas county, ending up at a Motorcycle show in Sutherlin, the Sutherlin Blackberry Festival. Cruised about 45 miles out there, chilled at the moto show and watched the Mud Drag races, which was pretty epic! Had some fry bread with blackberry jam, and good coffe. Then took more back roads home, for some fast trouble free riding through the Oregon country side. Total of 80 miles. The rebuilt Vespa is running strong, and staying cool! It was a good day.

It's gotta be weird to live in a place where traffic laws actually matter.

Even in Illinois, I rode my scooter to the DMV to get my motorcycle endorsement.

Here in Tennessee, I ride on Antique plates (weekends, holidays, club functions, and parades only) seven days a week, assuming I have a plate at all.

In the incredibly unlikely scenario where I got pulled over, as soon as they finished cuffing me for whatever actually caused it, I'd go with the BirdsNest Defense: "Officer, any time this thing starts, it's a fuckin' parade." Razz emoticon
The Fox is a semi-speakeasy. Small, dark, and no sign, just a door on the back of this building. Great cocktails, too.
