Got in a little scooting with Hibbert to my fav Mexican joint in Santa Paula. I've been on a chile relleno burrito kick lately.

Yeah, it's not a Vespa but it's Italian and 2T! Got to do till the GS is ready to tag team with Hibbert.

Lookin' good all the same, Rob!

I was in a similar boat today. I rode the Lammy, but my riding buddy was on a P200.

Your Lammy is a cross country machine! I automatically include it with the Vespas in NSM.

It really is outstanding for doing long-distance riding. Lower center of gravity and seat height, torque-y motor, long wheel base, 50 or 60 lbs heavier than my GL or VBB.

I sat on it for the first time after riding nothing but the GL for the past week or so and felt like I was in a hole. I like the new seat better than the old one, but am not finished shopping for a more comfortable option.

I'm really looking forward to having the GL back in the rotation for touring work, too. It may not be quite as good, but it's more a matter of mentally adjusting to it than "can't do it."

Gorgeous day today. Got Bear out for a 40 miler. Took a trip outside the city to enjoy not having to shift 1,000 times per mile.

Learned something. Trucks. They'll blow you right off the road on two lane highways. Had to adjust my riding and take the lane nearer the shoulder to avoid the absolute blast of wind that comes off them coming the other way atcha.

Ended up at the town I grew up in so took a picture out front of the house I grew up in. Or at least spent the most years of my youth in… we moved around a lot till I was 10 or so.
My grandparents house that I grew up in. Right side. There used to be so many more bushes and trees and plants in general.

Great pic.

Trucks... I had a custom side car rig (kayak carrier) for my GTS250 back in the day. Cruising at 60mph when a semi passed on a easy curve on 521 outside Palacious TX. It put so much wind on me that the sidecar lifted. The end of my side car days followed shortly thereafter.

My daily white p200 is still out of commission with the tire rubbing the shock issue. So I've been riding my old p177 race bike. I always forget how quick and smooth this motor is and how hard I can beat the hell out of it. It's perfect. I'll have a video up tomorrow of me and some friends doing exactly that.

*Yes this is the scooter that was wrecked into a ditch on my camping trip, bent the bars back in place, did some amateur body work with a hammer, and replaced the headlight, and she's back to perfect(ly beat up) and ripping!*

I dig that scoot. Sorry to see it in the ditch.

Malossi 177 cast iron. It's just perfect.

But I'll be building another small block with LML cases and the vmc 187 top end. Fingers crossed it's just as smooth, faster, and equally as durable.

I've never run the Malossi so i can't compare. I'm running the VMC 177 aluminum kit. It rides great with plenty of power for my VNB on 8s. The cylinder head hardware is a bit dodgy but once you replace those bolts you should be good to go.
I'm curious about the BGM 177 kit. I think I'll try it on the next build.

I've done a few different motors with the BGM 177 and like it a lot. It will produce enough power to kill cases if you want it to. It's what I'm replacing with the M1XL in my GL.

Broad power band and loads of power (26-27HP on my reeded LML; 17 HP on a rotary SprintV) if you go to the trouble of setting it up right. Similar power (and price) to the VMC from what I can tell, but I still need to try one to say for sure.

It's great for touring because you generally don't have to downshift for power, just twist the throttle, plus it's not peaky power, so the throttle isn't twitchy, either.

We set a new days without rainfall record here after Helene, but broke it on a previous weekend (of course). We got something like 1.5" here over the past weekend. A lot, but not enough to pull us out of a drought declaration.

My wife had a math conference in Palm Springs, so I trucked my P out there. Took lots of photos of landmarks around Palm Springs. This shot is on Hwy 74 above Palm Desert looking down on the valley. It was a beautiful 78 degrees.

I wish there was a sleeker way to keep the turn signals and run a P without the glovebox. I like the look too, but the turn signals and exposed wiring is bothersome to me. You have yours pretty damn tidy though I will say.

A video of me trying to keep up with my Triumph buddies. They ride kinda crazy so they lose me in the middle, but I end up catching them right before my exit off the expressway. (Skip to about the 2:30 mark if you only wanna see us riding on the interstate).

To leave the house, a scooter has to enter the house first (again).

Gave the scoot a good wash in the shower and then rolled it to dry off in the kitchen.
