Some damn good riding adventures over the holiday weekend.

Makes me want to get out for more than just test rides and running errands, even if it's pretty chilly here right now.

Now the temp here is around -10'c instead of rain and water splashing around so it was time to jot the scoot on a trailer and drop it off at local restaurant. That is a good place for scooter to hang out until spring. After draining the tank I added some diesel in the fuel tank to keep it from rusting.

I was in a lighted vehicle parade - and passed out a ton of candy to the spectators. It was a blast!

Congrats! What was the competition like? Who got second?

I think the Jeep got 2nd. Not a big turnout considering it rained right up to 10 minutes before, so I'm sure a bunch of people bowed out. And Florence is a small town.

But I think it was the tub of mints I was handing out. I spent most of the time passing out candy on the side to the kids, and parents. All of a sudden someone hands me that award, while I was handing out candy! Small town.

Very cool! The tub of mints was a good play haha.

Got out in the hills today. It's so great when you have a sweeping view on either side. I love when I get off the scooter and realize "Man, I so needed that"!

Holiday decorations at another level…

I've been mostly riding the GL as I work on dialing in the carb, and while it's getting close, I still took the Lammy this morning to a couple of doctor's appointments.

I've been riding past this one for years and yet never stopped to get a picture until this morning. I'd always assumed this was a Claes Oldenberg sculpture, but turns out it's called "Let's Eat!" by a Nashville local named Ray Henderson.

Cool shot. Like the reckless abandon of the speedo cable flopping on the pavement!

I'd forgotten about that, but at least it fits with the overall vibe.

I need to pull the cable out, or at least cut it off. I'm thinking I may splurge for a SIP Speedo, so have been ignoring it until I come to a final decision about that.

If you look really closely, you can see an EGT sender dangling right behind the centerstand, too. I replaced it and then forgot to cut it out. Didn't even realize it until I walked out to the bike to ride home from the doctor.

Sending a strong message of, "Stay back...you don't know when something will fall off next," is just good common sense riding in Nashville traffic.

Love the look of that scoot, C-man. I gaze at it and what comes to my mind is reckless abandon.

The retired race bike becomes the snow day daily…My normal daily, all stock never opened up white p200 started running real funny and having some weird noises. So after 2 days of limping it around I decided that Christmas break is a good time to give her a rebuild with a new crank and the ol malossi 210 top end. So till that's buttoned up, this ol gal gets the run around in the snow.

*I didn't know it was supposed to snow last night, hence the lack of cover. I'm not that mean to my scooters.

The rare snow in NYC these days never sticks around very long anyway. But for scoots living outside you're right: covered is better for their longevity.

Weather here is the stuff of dreams. SS is purring. Rode out for a drink and a stop at a local shop for last minute gifts and whatnots.

Torrential rain let up for the day and the winter mileage challenge is now on, so I took advantage and did a modest tour of the area, about 70 miles. I'm enjoying being back aboard the '06 GT200, it rides like a land yacht but that's a nice feature on some of these nominally maintained rural roads.

I'm interested in the idea of the lap apron that I've seen used by colder climate riders. For those who use them, what features are important to you? Are there brands/models that you've found to be more useful than others?
