For the readers, 55mph works out at 6800rpm in 3rd. And that drops into 4th at 5100rpm. 68mph is 6300rpm, so 500rpm delta to 3rd. This means the gearbox is actually good for a touring box.
Need to add more torque. Without any tuning work, that can be achieved with, higher compression, richer jetting or more ignition timing.

Sounds like the scooter earned a rest for a while though.

Today, my long lost compadre Scootnewb came back from the foreign land he moved to (The Villages, Florida), and we took a spin to Yachats for old times sake.

We did go to the Green Salmon coffee shop, but it was packed, so we headed over to the local bar and grill and had a burger and onion rings.

It was such a fantastic ride, and catching up...

Left the house for few nights camping with friend.
The weather was very changeable - 15 minutes of rain, 30 minutes of sun, again, 2 hours of heat, 1 hour of tropical rain and so on for three days. But without a doubt it was wonderful weekend - almost 150 km trip and pleasant time in the forest.

chandlerman I cheated this time - I picked up only tent and awning, rain suit, and few bottles of beer for waiting while my friend will come by his car.
But some time ago I easily put on my LML 200-4T all stuff for two persons for live fully autonomic for 2-3 days. For sure can do same with P, but I like to ride with less luggage as possible

Very cool! Did you ride from Callahan to Gazelle? I just drove that a couple a weeks ago for the first time. Amazing how much middle of nowhere there is in Northern California.

We did forest route 17. State of Jefferson has amazing roads

Not nearly as impressive as the SOTT, but I've been riding the heck out of the GL of late.

I spotted a mural I hadn't seen before today, so naturally I had to stop off for a quick picture.

What is the SOTT? I'm intrigued by the duration…

So far My Rally and the Ninja Rabbit are the only two scooters that have done it. Even though many of the bikes are 350cc, they aren't any faster than the scooter.

What happened on your recent long distance event?

I won This win was extra special because it was done on my first ever FULL motor build from bare cases. So to win a pretty gnarly race, on a motor i built was extremely gratifying.

I'm hosting a 6hour mini moto team endurance race this weekend. Today was open practice. Everything went pretty smooth on my teams side of things. Only a few small issues. A buddy I recruited was riding the backup bike to get used to riding Vespas and had the bike shut off mid lap, learned pretty quickly the woodruff key broke off. No problem, replaced and all is well. Then he later slide out on a ride side turn (damn selector box). He was fine and bike started right back up so all was well. Then the race bike shut off on me mid lap, got it back to the pit, learned the self grounding Vape cdi bracket broke off. No idea how or why, but we managed to whip up a new bracket with some scrap metal that was at the kart shop on the premises. Tomorrow the race starts, since I'm racing and hosting i probably won't be able to report back here until Sunday. And as usual, I'm filming a bunch and will have lots of GoPro footage as well. Here are a few photos from today.
