We're being held captive in a heat wave in New England. I dunno but 96 in the shade by noon today may be too warm for a spin on an almost 60-year old two stroke. Who knows? Maybe I'm actually becoming cautious in my middle age.

I did get out early Saturday, at least, and returned via a local covered bridge... a nice spot at the Green River.

Careful. I got heat exhaustion working in my shop today. It was a chilly 94° in there. Out of nowhere I felt dizzy and got the chills then felt like I was gonna puke. Luckily this is normal for me in the summer and I'm now at the ice hockey rink cooling off like a champ.

Be careful with heat guys. I worked for 35+ years in Florida plastering before moving north to SC. About half of the time was doing stucco work outside, the other half inside plastering. So during the long, long summer, you got broiled or baked. Nothing was air conditioned inside, of course. I ran and worked with small crews, usually 8 to 15 guys and there always was a 5 gallon water cooler for every 2 guys. I always figured on 2 gallons of water a day per person. Sometimes that was not enough. There were many instances of heat exhaustion and a few heat strokes. In almost all of these cases the guy was drinking sodas or full strength Gatorade and not enough water.

Z - don't want to downplay the heat there, but for a somewhat accurate temperature, the gauge should be in the shade away from the wall. I put one of those on the outside scaffold once when we were working as a joke on a day that was around 93. tThe temp showed 118 in the sun.

Even before this heat wave, I had already been thinking lately that sometimes working on these fiddly Vespas really is for masochists.

You've got too-small m4 fasteners that seize with rust, or teeny soldered-on speedo light wire that breaks, VBB junction box connectors, and the rest. But on top of that, the garage or shop is always too hot for half the year and then too freezing cold the other half!

Tierney, that's a good gag. Yeah, this copper thermometer is in the shade all morning and then the sun hits it at about 1pm these days. After that, it goes up to 120 or so, but we know it's way off in the afternoons. Haha

Weather was good today so went for a ride. On way back home picked up my 5yo girl from daycare in style, hence the small helmet on the bag hook.

Need to drink a 20oz bottle of water on hour while riding to stay semi hydrated. Working is probably the same thing.

Today Chris and I rode from Florence to Noti for a burger, then back. We rode along the Siuslaw river through Mapleton, Deadwood, and Triangle lake on Hwy 36.

This is farm and logging country - truly spectacular scenery, and awesome scooter roads.

Thanks Eric - Yes - the blood orange (summer of citrus and all) or burgundy scooter Ruby is totally stock with about 11,000 miles.

The white beauty Bianca has a 60mm crank, ported stock cylinder and a Gran Sport piston. Going up the big grade Bianca went by Ruby like it was nothing....

Yesterday I meet my friend from Spain who come back to Ukraine. Was so happy to see him again after 5 months.

We decided to have a little evening ride. His Lambretta starts from third kick and we start to thrashing all shit out from our scoots.

But the police did not like it and did not share our little joy. And we both received a $10 tickets.

What offence was the ticket for?

We rode on bus lane. this is the amount of the ticket that I have to pay - 340 UAH(Ukrainiah Hryvnas). If I don't pay within two weeks - amount is updates to double.

Upped the main jet on Bajaj from 104 to 110, lowered yellow's from 105 to 100 and fixed the headlight on white. The tabs had broken off so disassembled the light, cut n' bent new ones and assembled with siliconeish type glue.


Went for a spin with a friend on the smallies.

Took my wife's bike out to test her new CHT on some known-temperature rides.

Today I took a quick blast on B-62, AKA the Blue Bomber, to the Sea Lion Caves and the Haceta Head lighthouse overlook. About 30 miles round trip.

I put in a 24/24 venturi by oopsclunkthud (thanks man!) and am dialing in the jetting. I hit 300f, but just barely. Perfect
