I need to find a better plug connection, this one keeps hitting the motor cover. I had one with a 90° angle but it hit also and got broken. This one is shorter than stock but still to long. Any recommendations? I think I need to use a different boot around plug hole. This is an old cover I drilled a hole in reserving my new cover.

I've got a 90* plastic spark plug cap on my 225, center spark plug hole. No problems ever.

Your spark plug lead too long?

Picture of what you have, part number? Could be my Stella cowl is a little different shape? Had issues with angled spark plug and 90° spark plug cap also, this is just worse cowl won't even go on.

I think I need to get rid of that black dry rotted rubber boot and get a much shorter plug cap. Then figure out how to seal.around hole.

No pics. I'm away at the moment. Standard plastic NGK spark plug cap. Nothing special!

Any chance you got like janky engine mounts letting it go too far forward?

Just pulled an NGK LD05F, off of my Stella motor. It's an inch shorter than the one that was in there, measured with a tape measure. Cowl now fits without an issue. What do you guys use to seal air leaks around plug hole in shroud?

I just don't worry about air leaks around the spark plug hole in the cowl.

*edit* never mind - you mean the hole the spark plug lead sticks out of, and if you have an extra one. Ignore my confusion

Since I used the shroud off a traditional angled spark plug head, I had to drill my own hole for the center mounted head on my 225. There were two holes in the shroud, so I used one of the linked plugs to fill the old angled one.

I see now someones made a cowl specifically for center mounted plugs.

I drilled a second hole in the shroud for the center-mount plug, I've had no trouble with a standard 90 degree NGK plug cap. I just duct-taped over the old hole.

I've tested temps with the second hold sealed with a rubber grommet or not. It made no difference whether it was leaking or not.
