If you don't like "any of those new Models", what were you expecting to find in the area dedicated to "Discussion of modern Vespas and other things scooter related" on a forum called ModernVespa?

Agree with Miguel — move on. I don't know much about the 946 and am interested in hearing more than one person's perspective on this very unique Vespa.

You might want to insert your location on your profile so it appears with your posts. That would help North American readers understand your reference to the 946 as an overpriced 125. (around here it is an overpriced 155 )

eh, I work cheap if it's in the name of adventure and meeting new people and conquering challenges. you'll only have to pay airfare one way, can meet ya at the starting line. I'm a pretty cheap date, don't care for lobster. come with my own tools and a box of spares.

and then... when the sun dips as the moon rises we turn to our more feral instincts. we grab the big hammers, and the cheap beer. we light off the torches and play that metal music, both in smacking that steel and the, like, actual music. we curse freely and complain loudly. we fuss and fight with our metal mistresses.

then we go inside, listen to a podcast and sauté broccoli rabe, bake pork chops and make rice while enjoying a nice glass of reasonably priced wine and watch 1.5 episodes of a well rated streaming show with our partner.

we're all just like you. promise.

First, the post of Sophia Loren made my day. Like Vespa,
an Italian classic beauty.

I say there are products necessarily defined for all income groups.
I do not have any animosity toward anyone who has done better
economically than I have. I am just lucky to be in a system that
lets me work as hard as I want to get ahead.

I think the 946 is amazing. So much so, I might have bought one.
I just needed the power and long legs of the GTS 300.

My blushing bride Understands my love of scooters. But, after
a new Dragon Red GTS300 and a new 2022 Kymco AK550, if
I bought the 946, she would have become a bit opinionated.

So, I think the 946 is great and not out of the reach of enthusiasts.

Our new scooter friend VespistX is German. Half my family is
German and can at times be blunt. I inherited this same trait,
which at times has not severed me well. He is a well Vespa traveled
and seems like a good soul. For someone who has traveled so
much sleeping on the ground in a tent, I expect he finds the 946
a bit extravagant.

Dealers around me once had "leftover" 946s in droves. A couple of years ago, there were multiple new 2018 or 2019 946s listed in local inventory. Since we started with whatever odd economic phenomenon we are in now, the 946s have disappeared. Suddenly, it's easy to sell old-new-stock Vespas for $11,000. Beautiful scooters - I'm betting most buyers in my area don't ride them much, so low-mileage used examples are probably pretty common when they are available.

I'd donate United miles for the one-way back to LAX in the name of adventure. Who's got the first bottle of Crystal Head?

I understand where you're coming from VespistaX. 946 is missing a lot of what many of us love most about our Vespe, and the things that make it unique are the things we actually dislike about our Vespe.

What's most important is to remember is that for every time you make one joke on the internet, one person will write you an essay about it, and ten more will be laughing as we scroll through the chaos lol

OP here I passed on tracking down a 946 I was worried about the seating position compared to a 150 or 300, plus I couldn't find one to try in person. I tracked down a used 2020 super tech 300 GTS with 410 miles at a semi local dealer. Hopefully I can pick it up this Friday.

May I, quite politely, ask what has attracted you to this colour? I am noticing that this is more and more popular, and I do not understand it. My grand grand ma's old email pots were having nicer colours

Those colors seem to be all the rage. Have you seen some of the latest automotive hues? It's like varying shades of baby food.

FTR, I like the gray, but I'll admit it makes me think "shiny primer".

I prefer something that distinguishes me from the roads and cement environment of the city when I'm out on two wheels, but if the price is right... Might not be the safest color but at least it isn't ugly *shrug*

The color is not too far off from the GT60 that was offered in '06/07. Same general idea at least.

coming from a country that has grey soup most of the year on the skies, living in a city in that country where buildings and roads are the same colour .... I mean, really, enough of gray! or at least find some nice grey that is bit more sophisticated. this is plain ugly. banalle!

I don't think you'll regret getting this one, at all. That's probably my fave color, too, though I do dig mine in Nero Convinto.

It's great color in person at least to me and couldn't pass up the deal in this environment. I'll be adding some reflective stickers down low like I had on my last 250 GTS. I know I haven't been around this site for 10 years but I didn't know you needed orange wheels to be in the in crowed now a days

Welcome back! I think you'll really enjoy your choice. I've got the matte version of that color and it's quite nice. The digital display is also a really nice addition.

you do not need orange wheels to be part of the crowd. your money and you buy what you want if that suits you. I just do not understand first OEM's desire to even offer to the customers something like that and at the end spending own money on it. but if you say that it was a deal you could not miss, then hell yeah, enjoy. the ride is the thing that matters

again, is just my opinion and the taste preference, which could mean nothing

I picked up my cement colored 2020 GTS Supertech the same way, used with 500 miles at a very good price. If I was buying brand new I would have probably picked a different color. It has really grown on me the longer I have owned it. At least it is glossy and not matte. Matte paint to me looks like primer waiting for a clear coat.
