Slightly different steps to the above video for some models such as a Supertech.

Best to check in the manual 😀

But is there a way to get asr off as a default upon start up? It is really annoying to always switch it off, and inevitably you forget sometimes, and launch from the lights and it bogs down.

I don't know about any way to switch ASR off by default. That's actually good, because otherwise those in need to make use of it, might forget to turn it on.

I switch it off almost every time after starting the engine (I haven't seen the need to te-calibrate yet) and I don't find it any harder than to remember to let go of the brake levers when I'm done braking.

I'm considering an auto off circuit for the asr
A time delay relay [TDR], the coil hooked up to the headlight, normally closed contacts hooked up in parallel to the ASR switch
The headlight doesn't turn on until the motor is running, activating the TDR, set for 2-3 seconds, would simulate pushing the ASR button
The regular ASR button would still work
The TDR could be under the tupperware
A switch to turn it off could be added to disable it
Here's a relay, for cheap, the description is confused, it is a 12v coil
