It doesn't look like what I would term "spam". It is not off topic material promoting a product or point of view which inappropriately takes advantage of a site and your acceptance of that site to direct that material to you when it would not otherwise be welcome.

On the other hand, I believe sending opinions like this as PMs rather than posts on a discussion topic bypasses the purpose of this site. I believe others would likely take issue with this advice and offer other points of view. I certainly would not suggest you tear apart your steering bearings based on any information you have provided so far about your own scooter (if that is what the PM means with the upper steering reference).

I am more concerned about being told it's dangerous and not to ride it and to stay off it. I did respond and say that making such a diagnosis just with my quick paragraph seems a bit premature

You have started a discussion thread on this subject and other members have responded. I did not notice anyone else suggesting that you are at any significant risk. It does appear that you misread a previous discussion on recommended tire pressure. I would certainly revert back to the actual factory recommendation (26 psi in front and 29 psi at the rear) and adjust from there to your preference.

I agree with Dooglas.

My experience with "thescooterbud" was less than optimal. I believe that "thescooterbud" is a parts dealer that appears to be in the U.S. who accepts ones payment and then orders the parts from Asia and ships via a slow method.

I am not suggesting that "thescooterbud" is dishonest but rather that the transaction time is excessive and that there are other less expensive vendors with faster shipping options.

"Thescooterbud" appears to run a parts website: https://www.thescooterbud.com/

So this was an unsolicited commercial PM strongly encouraging the purchase of parts - spam in other words. I will contact them and ask them to desist sending PMs in this manner. Fine to do it on the public forums (as Motovista, AF1 do in a helpful way) - not via private messaging.

According to Websters, no, it's not spam unless everyone got one.

Definition of spam
: unsolicited usually commercial messages (such as emails, text messages, or Internet postings) sent to a large number of recipients or posted in a large number of places.

As far as I'm concerned the requirement for 'bulk' went out of the window long ago. If it's unwanted commercial, religious or political solicitation from anyone with whom I have zero connection they can fuck right off. That's the response those who can't read get at the doorstep as well.

not so much as a defence, rather just some logic:

not spam by my understanding and also I don't see the commercial content in the message. like where was the "I can sell you the parts you need, here's a link to my site". didn't see that.

Hmm, the dangerous part of the msg ... the unequalness of the left vs right can be argued to be unsafe and also the risk of it getting worse before it's solved is also possibly and issue. mind you I've been riding with bad steering bearings for at least 10,000km GTS steering bearings
