I need a bit of help please. So I bought a VBB restoration project that was completely in bits and in all of the parts were two front forks which were slightly different to each other.
I've started assembly only to find that the front fork I choose to use (the white one) doesn't seem right - it doesn't seem to be long enough. As you can see in the pictures below, in order for the steering locks to sit high enough into the frame, and also for the thread at the top of the shaft to be accessible, the fork sits so high that the front wheel shield actually touches the main leg shield.
I had chosen that particular fork to use as it matched exactly all of the pictures I had seen of other forks from VBB models (mainly due to the steering locks). The other fork I have (the brown one in the picture below) seems to be the correct length but it doesn't have any steering locks...
Has anyone come across this before? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but I have no idea. At this point I'm wondering if I need to fabricate my own steering locks onto the brown fork or lengthen the white one...
