Registration for the 2023 Scooter Cannonball has opened!
The 2023 Cannonball is similar to previous years in format. Each day is divided into four segments defined/gated by 'mandatory' checkpoints. There are optional bonus locations that the rider can photograph for additional points. For 2023 the overall winner will be determined using a handicap-adjusted score (same formula as always). However, scooters will be grouped into classes and scored comparatively based on their "raw time" performance.
All two or three-wheeled, street-legal bikes with a displacement under 125cc are permitted to register for the event. If the entrant bike does not meet the events definition of a scooter, it will not be included in the overall scooter scoring and but will be scored among their peers in a separate class by raw time. This allowance accommodates several of the new Honda variants in the marketplace.
Unlike 2021, the 2023 route has limited unpaved sections. Three in total across three days of riding for a total of 32 miles. All checkpoints and bonus locations can be reached via paved surfaces.
A reception/party is planned for Saturday, June 17th, in San Clemente at a local brewery. This event will be open to the public/spectators. Details will be announced in Spring 2023.
A reception/party at the finish line will be held on Sunday, June 25th, in Hilton Head following the event's conclusion. This event will be open to the public/spectators for a small cover charge. Details will be announced in Spring 2023.
