I know the easiest way to answer my question is just to try some things but I'm still slightly unhappy with the spluttering I get coming from closed throttle through the first 25% of the grip rotation. Once I get past that then the main really kicks in and it takes off but the idle circuit is still very spluttery both when starting off and when low speed rolling in city traffic.

Currently I've got a 55/160 installed (Stella with a BGM 177 and a main stack of a AC120-E3-118MJ)

I have the original Stella 40-130 jet which would give me a 3.25 ratio vs the richer 55-160 that is a 2.91. It seems like jumping from 2.91 to 3.25 is pretty significant and that I'd be better with a small change to a 40-120 or a 45-140.

I still don't see huge changes playing with the air mix screw so I'm assuming my pilot jet is still pretty rich but I'm also concerned about ending up too lean coming off throttle and causing some issues.

Any sage advice? I need to order some other little bits so its a good time to throw in a couple of jets as I already have to pay shipping.

Hal

Try 45/140 then 40/120. You'll probably land on one of those. I think I'm on 40/120

Oh jesus, I haven't even gotten to slides yet. I know from my C70 world that they are really important but I'm trying to only change one element at a time.

The slide is important for the first half throttle. 04 is the usual original one. Just look down the carb and see the number.

While you're in the carb looking, change the E3 to BE4 and report back what happens.
