I have a Faco adjustable windshield on my GTS. Works well enough but I do get some buffeting even when raised high (much worse when down all the way). I have to stoop down a bit, but that gets uncomfortable.

So I purchased a windshield extension (see picture). Test rode it today and I'm not sure I like it. If I raise the windshield all the way, it cuts out the wind entirely. But I have to look right through the extension, which is wavy/distorted just enough for it to be annoying. Faco windshield is crystal clear but this extension is obviously not made that well.

So I guess I have to choose between noise and view.

FYI, on longer trips, I have earplugs in, so no big deal. But around town and running errands, I don't use earplugs.

That combo resembles a circus act: quite the thing to witness, but perhaps too complex for its own good. While I could see that extender on, say, a mid-sized single windscreen (Vespa or Faco, take your pick), having that many elements within my field of vision would make me nervous. And that doesn't even take into account the mechanics of it all.

I do think you should wear earplugs for every ride, not just longer ones. It only takes a few moments before putting on your helmet.

I also have a Faco Twin Screen and wasn't satisfied with the height of the clear screen when fully extended. I was gifted a spare windscreen for a Genuine Blur and modified it to replace the clear inner screen.

I had to cut it in a few places to remove the hand guards, drilled new holes for the mounting hardware, and heated it in a makeshift cardboard box lined with aluminum foil heated with a heat gun to adjust the curve of the plastic.

I've been pleased with the result for many thousands of miles. I'm sure you could do something similar as well.

CC: Wow, that's one itinerant mod! More than a tad involved though, but looks the business.

Crazy Carl - yes, that's exactly what I need. A taller clear screen.

I'm definitely taking off the extension. Besides looking goofy, it's not a great solution for me.

It was a bit of a project, but well worth it. In fact, I scavenged it off my wrecked GTS last year (seen in the pics above), and will be putting it on my new-to-me GTS when my new Twin Screen arrives in a few days.

For anyone who wants a taller inner screen for their twin screen, I'd recommend finding a used screen to modify for this. It really wasn't all that hard - I managed to do it!

A bit over the top. No pun intended.
