Plug and go.

Take your time, and have beers handy!

go slow and take LOTS of pictures as you disassemble.

beer and curse words will be necessary coming and going.

Can't help but notice a zip tie securing a coolant hose not far from the scene of the crime/accident...I am hoping that is a temporary fix on the offending hose that caused the problem?

It really did a number on that harness for sure and makes me think I need to check my hose clamps. That's a bummer.

Good point. A zip tie is never going to be a good substitute for a hose clamp.

Personally, I find it highly doubtful that the coolant resulted in this mess. Wiring insulation supposedly withstands 200°C - 300°C before melting. Are you sure the harness wasn't rubbing on the frame resulting on short circuiting??

Anyways, just make sure to install and route the new harness where it supposed to go...

Excellent point! I am curious to see if the ECM survived this, wondering whether or not something like this happening could cause the ECM damage?

that portion of the harness is supposed to sit on top of that rail and a zip tie thru one of those holes secures it there thus avoiding the sharp underside and corner of the piece. seeing duct tape on those other connecters leads me to believe that there was some chicanery going on there and somebody didn't locate the harness correctly and it chafed until a dead short.

coolant likely had no part in the production of this masterpiece.
