Two days ago I had the privilige to visit the Museo Piaggio in Pontedera, Italy.

That was very special indeed! Not just because of all the great Vespa's that are on display there, but mainly because this is were it all started.

All the Vespa's I have ever seen came rolling out of the factory somewhere in this street! The Museo Piaggio is (if I am correct) located in the original factory building, but the whole street is flanked by Piaggio factory buildings.

The whole village of Pontedera, just breaths Vespa. It felt like walking on sacred ground and It really was a great experience.

Indeed, on my bucket list. I now insert the phrase "…for all the Vespas in Pontedera" in assorted conversation.

I'd be curious to know what percentage of the local population (Pontedera workers) ride Piaggio's or Vespas.

Is it just me or does seeing English on the poster in front of this building hurt just a little?

We thoroughly enjoyed being there. The town is also a worthwhile destination.

For some reason, I'm getting an 802 error when I try to attach a photograph. 🤷🏻

English is being used in much of Europe for all kinds of things, especially in advertising. Doesn't hurt the European in me. At some point it might have been Latin or French. Maybe it's a phase?! A Vespa is a Vespa no matter what the language

One of the few times 'exit through the giftshop' could be a worthwhile experience!

How could you possibly leave Pontedera without buying a momento?

I did

I tried and tried to find something nice in the giftshop, but there wasn't anything that I wanted. The museum was great though.

Oh, and I did buy two very nice books (one about the last 75 years of Vespa, one about the Piaggio Ciao) in Florence yesterday. In Italian, so it'll take some time to get through them

In Pontedera I certainly saw more Piaggio's and Vespa's than in other northern Italian towns, but indeed many Honda's (and Kymco's ) as well.

Oh, and many more Piaggio's (with the bigger wheels) thank Vespa's for sure. With the state of the roads around here, I fully understand…
