Picked up a 2002 Chetak for a daily driver to save milage and wear on my LX, got it at a great price, but from what a friend of told me, it's damned near impossible to get parts for-
Now, from what I understood, they're a rebranded Vespa, (model letters I forgot and need to look back up) and pretty much any part for a vintage vespa could be had-
Any input?
*Sidenote* engine runs like a tank, but snapped my gear change cable yesterday. Im gonna have to take it into the shop since I'm working crazy hours

Apparently, a lot of PX parts fit. Check Scooter Mercato and SIP. They'll cross reference the Indian scooters.
I've also ordered new accessories and new parts from Indian vendors on EBay a few times for my Stella 2T and 4T models, and generally had them in hand within 2 weeks, with free shipping from India.
Plus, the crumpled up Indian newspapers they use for padding are interesting to read.
Good luck.

the chetak 4T is it's own beast. very little from the PX series works with this bike. the engine is American market only and nothing Piaggio fits it.
so basically, you have brakes, cables and tires. some of the racks. a p-style horn cast will work and you could swap a taillight on. but other than that, you kind of up the creek.
they are known to strip rear hubs, so make sure yours is well sorted and tight. poke around e-bay and see if you can source another one, just in case. the clutch is also a point of concern. with no parts available if you grenade one you'll have a door stop. same goes for busting a shifting cross, a worn gear selector box, broken exhaust. all of which are common.
hit eBay and see if you can start amassing those parts. while some of those known problems are surmountable-- an exhaust can be welded, but if the gear box or clutch goes then you're screwed.
good luck!
