Modern Vespa

Took off yesterday morning on my '20 GTS300 and headed east towards Badlands National Park in western South Dakota, then northward to the 'World Famous'(?) Wall Drug Store for a late breakfast, then back homeward on the same route, hwy 44.

I cruised at 60-65 mph 'indicated', the Vespa smoothly hummed happily along at that speed.

Amazingly, in the entire 102 miles I rode on hwy 44 and the park roads to get to Wall, SD, not one vehicle passed me, and nobody passed me on the 102 mile trip back to Rapid City, though I passed two cars. My gas mileage was a bit of a disappointment at an average of 63 mpg, I was hoping to see something closer to 70, but it's a nit-pik in the big view of how great this 300 Vespa is overall.

The total miles covered for my breakfast ride adventure was 240.

This was my first ride of any real distance on my 'new' GTS300, which I've had for about two weeks now, and I must say that I am very impressed and pleased with this machine and it's outstanding performance.

I would ride along and wonder how on earth a 278cc, single-cylinder motorscooter can move this well, it's quite an amazing thing, and it's not as if I don't have other 'points of reference' to judge these things by, my 'other bikes' being a '22 Triumph Rocket 3R, a '22 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, a '22 Royal Enfield Classic 350, and my wife's '20 Triumph Speedmaster.

I've never heard of this world famous Wall Drug Store , but the scenery on some of your photos is absolutely amazing!
