Hello

I think the spring is much too powerful on the Vespa GTX 300 front rack.
I do not understand why they installed such a powerful spring set on this rack.

If someone knows please comment

I will be removing one or both springs on mine.

Why is light blue so hard to read!

Anyway, I actually liked the powerful spring, when I still had the front rack attached. Because of the power of the spring, the rack won't start to rattle on bumpy roads.

At one point in their history, Piaggio had an ACME division that was responsible for improving products like the front rack and making Cars. The original front rack was easy to remove from the scooter. Theft was a big problem. The ACME division replaced the original spring with two that were used to hold garage doors up in Italy. There was a latch and tab that could be used to hold it down like a mouse trap. if anyone tried to steal it, the rack closed and held the thief until the carabinieri arrived.
They probably ordered too many springs.
if you want to know painful, lift up an italian scooter with a sidestand while wearing flipflops.

they are strong to reduce rattle.

the springs on my rear rack broke. I removed them and since I always have the top box on, I don't miss them.

Probably not the ACME I knew as a kid...

Rumor has it that WEC side-gigged designing aftermarket parts for Lambrettas back in the day.

I did remove both springs.
And as Steelbytes and others have said these springs put pressure on the pivot joint shaft and push the pivot shaft against a very loose bracket hole where the pivot shaft rotates. No spring and the shaft bounces all over the place.
