My remote seat opener broke off within a year, so I threw it in a drawer and forgot it existed. Would have been a bigger problem if that was my only way to turn the thing on. |

I've been closely following the release, and was excited to see the updates and pictures this week. Have to admit that I'm a little disapointed after seeing the official site this morning. A few thoughts:
- Not a big fan of most of the new color options. Too many matte paint schemes and black trim IMO. I thought that the previous 60's racings (with black trim) looked great and classy, but some of these look a bit tacky & cheap. Just don't think they'll age well, which is weird since it's always been a Vespa strong point Even the cool Impulsive Orange now only comes with black trim and tacky stipes? I'm sure they're trying to attact young buyers with the changes, but who in their 20's is going to buy a sub-300 CC scooter for this much money? - The price increases are staggering! With fees, a 300 GTS is now going to be pushing $10k out the door! Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't seem to be a wise move given where the economy is heading. - On the bright side, I have to say that the beige color on the GTS looks surprisingly good in photos! The new wheels also look really good. Sad that the long white stripe is gone on the seat seams, but the new seats do look nice. ⚠️ Last edited by bwagner5150 on UTC; edited 1 time

I just read in a brochure LINK that the SuperSport has Brembo brakes calipers and master cylinders yet you can clearly see Nissin on the front caliper in the pics or the supersport. After surfing around I managed to identify the logo on the rear caliper, it's ByBre which is a Brembo brand LINK. Apparently the ByBre are made in India and designed in Italy

Interesting that they claim 86mpg for the new GTS. The same engine in the Sei Giorni (but tuned to Euro4) only claims 73.38mpg. The best I've ever gotten was 84mpg, coming down a mountain pass on ethanol-free gas.
Also looks like the new GTS is a little over an inch longer (with a quarter inch longer wheelbase), and a quarter inch narrower (presuming the measurements use the same precision in both spec sheets). nycrider wrote: The sei giorni doesn't seem expensive anymore |

According to the specs I've just looked up, the wheelbase has gone up from 1.370m to 1.380m. A 1 cm increase would allow for a larger engine around the corner, maybe 400?

It seems like in a couple months more people will be using the MIA and Vespa App. I see a few new threads popping up about it in the near future. I would love to know how you feel about setting it up. And if you're born in the 50's like I am enjoy the time it takes just to put your birthdate into your Profile. Hopefully by the time you get it, Vespa will update it and make it more user friendly. I think the programmers must be in their teens and didn't find how you have to input the date a big deal. Once it is set up it's fine for what it does. I don't want to turn anybody off of it. I am just a little curious about it. Good luck and enjoy.

As for the pricing, an increase was almost inevitable (everything has gone up). But, it does open up options for discounting or financing specials if they need to move units. |

My local dealer doesn't have the color I want, and I'm not paying retail price and not getting my first choice. However, there are several other dealers in the country that do. If the rebate on the 2022 model works out to enough to cover my gas... I might have to take a road trip. |

I hope there's an aftermarket option to get rid of that fake chrome switch gear cover. If that can't be changed I would never own one. That's crazy someone thought that was an upgrade.

I'm going to post the press release, where Vespa actually say some things about their updates.
One thing I find interesting is they said they re-did the seat for better comfort, and they're maintaining the MIA app options across the board, so I'd guess all models should have a wiring harness with ECU and power connections lurking somewhere on the bike. Here's the press release copy/pasted form motorcycle dot com. Emphasis is mine. Begin press release: The birth of a new Vespa is always an epic event because it continues an incredibly successful history founded on values of style and technology. The new Vespa GTS continues the legacy of the legendary "Vespone", as all the largest body Vespas were christened. Vespas with which to move elegantly around town but that are also ready to travel, or even adventure thanks to their increasingly more generous engines and superior comfort. The style of Vespa is an icon of modern design and the new GTS family highlights this, thanks in part to a range of no fewer than fourteen different colour schemes available. The elegance is the result of a magical balance between tradition and modernity that comes out in the lines of the GTS, painstakingly refined down to the smallest detail, and a construction quality elevated to unprecedented levels. The new Vespa GTS range comes packed with standard equipment and includes four versions, each of which has its own spirit: the classic Vespa GTS, the contemporary GTS Super, the sporty GTS SuperSport, and the technologically focused Vespa GTS SuperTech. All are available with a modern 300 hpe (High Performance Engine) powerplant: fruit of the latest Piaggio Group technology, which aims to create engines that are increasingly more technologically advanced and efficient in terms of limiting emissions and consumption. The body of the new GTS family, as has always been the case throughout Vespa history, is made strictly of steel: a sustainable material because it is 100% recyclable which guarantees unrivalled strength as well as truly unique safety and dynamism. This body, which is a Vespa worldwide exclusive, is now paired with an entirely new front suspension. Maintaining the traditional, single-arm layout, the system has been redesigned in terms of functionality to guarantee greater stability, especially at high speeds, and to improve comfort and handling, thanks to the new suspension calibration. Designed, as always, around the human body, Vespa boasts ideal ergonomics and a natural riding position that helps make it extremely comfortable, enjoyable to ride and accessible to everyone. The new Vespa GTS further highlights the strong touring and even travelling vocation which large Vespas have always embodied, offering a new seat with a superior comfort level even for the passenger and optimised ergonomics for easy footing on the ground at a standstill. And with Vespa GTS, practicality and ease of use take another step forward with the introduction of the keyless system to activate the ignition without having to insert the traditional key, streamlining the operations of starting the engine, opening the seat, and locking the steering column, all of which can be done with the remote control conveniently in your pocket. The SuperTech version confirms the ultra-modern TFT colour display, whereas new instrumentation makes its début on all the other versions, unchanged in style and elegance, but more complete and fully capable of exploiting the potential of the VESPA MIA connectivity system, standard equipment on the SuperTech and the SuperSport and available as an optional accessory for the other packages. US Availability Arrival: November 2022 Pricing: GTS 300 $7,799 GTS 300 Super $7,999 GTS 300 SuperSport $8,099 GTS 300 SuperTech $8,499 |

I am curious about the new seat and suspension.
My saddle is beyond deteriorated. (The espresso brown vinyl is garbage.) If I like the new ergonomics, maybe it's a good excuse to buy one. I am skeptical of Piaggio vinyl now though. Curious to see how similar/different these are to existing models. I'm also due for a new suspension (at least in the rear). Interested to see how much of an improvement this is, and how easily they fit existing GTSes. I don't really have an interest in shelling out $10k+ for a new SuperTech, so if there are real improvements for 2023, I'll probably try to bolt them onto my 2020. |

I bet the tilt is by using the motion sensors in the phone like the early version of the piaggio app (years before the supertech) and the abs monitoring is probably looking for either the wheel sensors giving very different speeds or a very rapid deceleration. |
