The path to hell is paved with good intentions. I thought I was topping off the hydraulic fluid real quick to see if I could get the warning tone in my last topic to stop and I just realized through doing some more reading tonight the oopsie I've made.

I haven't ridden the bike just ran the engine for a few seconds to verify I still can't use my bike due to tilt lock issue (prolonged warning tone when trying to unlock). Presuming a flush of the radiator will fix my mistake (due for one anyway) if someone can point me in the right direction as to how to do the flush of the coolant I would be deeply grateful.

Any and all advice (anecdotes also welcomed) would be appreciated as I clearly don't know what I'm doing.

Kind regard,

Rey

Plenty of videos on youtube, just a heads up, be very careful not to get any of that dot4 stuff on your paintwork when you flush out depending on method you use,

Easiest way I've found is to remove the water pump impeller cover and let it all drain out making sure that the radiator fill cap is removed.

Be sure to have a new gasket on hand.

Here's Robot doing a coolant flush (on a GTS, but it's essentially the same):

Thank you! I was wondering what the differences would be between the mp3 250, the 500, and the other liquid cooled vespas.

going to have another crack at it today.

Thanks for tuning in

One more thing, because brake fluid is corrosive I'd highly recommend doing a citric acid flush and flush out the cooling system followed by flushing 2 (or 3) times more to get all traces (of brake fluid and citric acid )out using nothing but distilled water

You can use the stuff in liquid form (diluted citric acid) to decalcify dishwashers and/or coffee makers. The powdered version is also acceptable as long as you premix it really well. You do not want powder in your engine and radiator coolant passages.

There's no any single reason for worries. The coolant consists literally from the same compounds as brake fluid, plus some water.

BTW same things are inside vape fluids. So when you "smoke" the vape, you literally breathe the brake fluid.

Of course, there are some other agents in each of those, but there's nothing really harmful for cooling system neither in brake fluid, nor in vape fluid

If it is harmless, then why does it destroy paint almost immediately?

For same reason why water destroys watercolor (aquarelle) - because dissolves it.

Ah, also same compounds are in the liquid for artifical smoke/fog (for fog machines used in shows and photography).

In the radiator or the overflow tank?
Just drain the overflow tank with a syringe or turkey baster with some tubing

this can be easily fixed with about a half a bottle of bourbon, save the other half for tomorrow . suggest using it with 1 or 2 cubes of ice as this gets you the best flavors.
