Hi, I'm going to do my first restoration project on a Piaggeo Vespa Sprint V 150 1976. Can someone tell me if it is a large frame or small? Also, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced restoration book to help me along the way.

it is a large frame
there is an absolute plethora of online resources but not too much in the way of physical dead trees. this is a good start how to restore large frame vespas I'd also pick up the Haynes Blue cover book and a service station manual. between those, the sausage vespa DVD, motorsport videos and the archives here you should be pretty well set in terms of information!

by sausage Greasy means this:
https://scooterproducts.com/product/vespa-engine-rebuild-plus-running-maintenance-dvd-bundle/ Worth every penny (or pence). They will ship from the UK to USA no sweat. Not sure where west mids is - maybe in the UK actually.

Yea in the uk shipping should be ok. They still have a postal service despite not having a government.

BTW I really like the book Greasy posted as well. There are both largeframe and smallframe versions of the book and both are worth having.

Thanks for the advice guys. Busy stripping the bike down now and taking loads of photos and making notes. Have to admit I'm learning loads about the bike, not all good….. I've bought a Haynes manual and will hold off buying parts until I set about rebuilding it. I was going to upgrade it to12v from 6v but it appears to have already been upgraded. Bit confused though and I need some advice! It's 12v with a coil attached, but I thought it would have had a CDI fitted. Do I need to fit one and how would that work around the existing coil.

How do you assume it's 12V?? It looks like it's still on 6V and points. Should be a CDI there, even if it had the crappy Bajaj kit...
Post a few pics of the whole scoot cause a lot of Vietbodges got imported into the UK... |

I noticed when stripping it that it has 12v bulbs and horn. I messaged the guy I bought it off and asked him and he said he believed it had been changed to a 12v

What it used to look like. It's had a 125cc engine installed into a 150 Douglas sprint.
