Hi, guys,
I do have 2 complete engine, 400 and 500 (dual spark).
Is it possible to dismantle the 500 engine cylinder include head and install it on 400 engine?
(Please ignore stator change)

I am asking this because the case of 500 engine is broken.

physically, I already tried to mount the 500 cylinder on the 400 engine and it looks good however I am little worried.

Thanks in advance
Nir

Suppose you could look through the parts list and see what parts are the same, give you a solid base, I would imagine some parts are the same but the engine fueling system would be different

Maybe there are some identical parts but as result of marketing they have different parts number,
for example, Euro 4 motor will get different numbering.

Anyway I will check and I will let you know about….

thanks for replay,Nir

Fueling is something that is a good point, but you need to check the ECU compatibility with the other components of the bike.

In example if the 500 ECU play well with the 400 cluster, throttle, etc or if you don't have a 500 ECU if the 400 one can manage the extra amount of fuel/air (100cc is 25% more), etc.

Extra to that you need to check if the 400 fuel injectors are the same or the 500 have a biggest one...

parts are interchangeble you can put a 492 cylinder and piston in the 400 it becomes a 487 also heads fit and work

ecu are the same simple update firmware with a cheap chines writer/reader like a immitation KESS

Hi,
thanks for replay…
Interesting issue, where are my 5 stolen cc missing (492-487) 😊

you are talking about software update,
till today I know the only way diagnose MP3 bikeד is by using the original Piaggio diag tool.
from your answer I am getting great news that there is an alternative tool to diagnose MP3 bike
can you share more info about.
or if you have any recommendation tool link also

Thanks in advance
Nir

No Firmware change not a update you need to change the mapping and code from a xx501 400cc to a xx502 500cc a dealer can't update a 400 with 500 software

You can do that with a Kess V2 from aliexpress take the software from the 500 ecu store it on your laptop as a bin file with a pin out Power (Red) Ground (Black) a K-line (Green)
And a stable 12volt power source and write it to the 400 ECU

the 5cc are because a 400 has a different stroke 69

Diagnostic software is JPdiag usefull freeware it can only read
