Hi guys, just picked up a vespa 150 sprint for a restoration project. The throttle grip has to be rolled forward to accelerate, not towards me, is this right?

Definitely not right, sounds like someone has pulled the cable the wrong way around the throttle tube.

The throttle cable should come up the front (headlight side) of the pulley.

Nice bike, what year is it?
"... restoration project.".... Please tell me more? Meanwhile pull the headlight and take a pic inside of the throttle pulley. |

I've fixed the throttle, it was wrapped around the wrong way. It's a 1976. Is there a quick way to check is running 6v or 12v. I haven't even looked under the cover yet, just picked it up and riding by it for a bit before I start a restoration. I'm gathering advice etc first as it's my first restoration project.

honestly I'd just clean it up and ride it - that thing is in good shape now. so many first restoration projects get taken apart and then people give up.

I'm not starting the restoration until I've have a good blast on it, I'm just gathering as much info before I do start. I've got the time and patience so I'm prepared for the the long job. I do have another question! I have a small blue unit that the plug lead runs from which looks newer than the other parts, would it be a CDI unit?

if everything is working the points system can be quite reliable - no need to do it just to do it

Looks like there's a few aftermarket seals etc on it, soon sort that out.

I agree it just looks "off."
It seems to have had a heavy skim coat when it was painted, which might be part of what's setting off my Spidey Sense, though. |
