I might have the money for it the supposed normal retail price.
But,,, How can I buy a 946? It seems impossible to order online,,,
I tried but then I hit deadends at vespa.com or the choice isn't there on the various sites. Why can't I just order it to my dealer. And NO, I cannot (will not) order it at my dealer,,, I want to do it online please.

Probably because the Vespa 946 was already available for several years only irregularly as a limited special model. Last 2021 the special model Vespa 946 Dior, this was ONLY available via the stores of Dior (not via the Vespa dealer, not via the website) (18k €/$). In addition, there were other special models in previous years. I don't know when in Europe the 946 was last in an official Vespa price list.

Yes, and no…

Official statement from Vespa Italy: "only via Dior Stores".

But there must be a small quantity of produced but not sold via Dior stores (quantity was limited to 946 units worldwide as far as I know), sold months later than availability in Dior stores to/via Vespa dealers. My dealer (one of the largest in Germany) got one (ordered 5 or more). Maybe there was outside of Germany/Europe a different approach.

There is no current 946. Today Vespa announced a new limited 946 for 10-year anniversary (in 23):
946 10th Anniversary model
Availability will not before Summer 23 (in Germany)

Why are you so against going to a dealership? It's not like you're going to be able to negotiate on a 969 for price. It is what it is for something like that there is no price negotiation. Limited supply equals no price negotiation.

I don't think you can get one delivered outside a dealership. It's a special, limited edition / production vehicle and at least here, the customer is considered unique and treated that way. It's not like everyone spends 15k euro on a small, 125cc Vespa (we don't get the 150cc version in Europe)…

My dealer had the extra red 946 around the time I purchased my scooter from them. It's much nicer looking in person. Anyways, they had a out-the-door price on it. It was a bit more than a regular Vespa 150 (obviously) but not that crazy considering the exclusivity of it.

Here's my point. If your dealer had one on the showroom floor with a markup over msrp the average Vespa buyer would never buy it. It will sit on the floor taking up retail space while slowly being reduced down to a more normal price (msrp) till that one person who has to have one walks in.

If I wanted one that bad I'd go to the dealer and inquire about getting one. I have a good relationship with my Vespa dealership. Not saying it'll get me a big discount but I would know the true take home price upfront with no funny business. Because I would be actively seeking one out I'd already know I'd be paying more than a regular Vespa 150. Your'e not getting a 946 at Primavera or Sprint prices. You pay more to play in 946 land.

Every official Vespa dealer in Europe can order 150cc instead on 125cc on Primavera, Sprint and Piaggio Models.

Depending on local laws regarding the drivers license 125 (e.g. Germany) or 150cc (e.g. Italy) is more common.

I'm talking about the 946. The 946 comes only in 125cc in Europe but in the US they got a 150cc version.

My local dealer has the 946 red. I have the T-shirt from Judy. Piaggio has committed a portion of the sales as a donation for people living with HIV in developing countries. Not sure if it's still applies.

Yes! All Vespa (RED)-Models include the donation of 150$ to the (RED)-Foundation

My Buddy owns Southsound Scooters,
He has a used white 946. https://www.southsoundscooters.com/default.asp?page=inventory&condition=pre-owned

I am sure you could haggle a bit. Also he can help you with shipping.
Its as close to a private seller for a 946 as you will get, people are not selling theirs.

This one is about the price of a new primavera.
Should I buy it and put it in the barn for 40 years so the grandkids can be millionaires?
I'd have to buy a barn.

That's setting the bar really low for your grandkids. Only millionaires? You want them to be poor?

Petrol will be 47,000$ gallon by then. Might impact on investor confidence.

I've met your buddy a couple of times at Southsound Scooters. I travel to Tacoma for work a few times a year and when I was staying at the Marriott a couple of blocks away one time, I was ecstatic to discover by chance that a Vespa dealer was just a short walk away.

I was (and still am) in the market for a GTS. So I went in to check the inventory, see the colors in person (He had several Vespas in colors my local dealer didn't have), and just revel in the beauty of the Vespas he had in stock. I introduced myself and was very upfront from the beginning that I was an out of town visitor but looking to get a Vespa, though couldn't buy one there (or at least wouldn't be practical given the added shipping) and yet he and his staff still welcomed me and gave me the opportunity to check out the Vespas and other bikes, answered so many questions, really allowing me to spend a lot of time there, and even gave me local restaurant recommendations! I went back to say hi the next time I was in town. They treated me like a VIP even while he knew he I would leave without buying a scooter. (I did buy a T shirt for me and my wife though!) I can only imagine how he treats customers who actually buy a Vespa! LOL He and his wife are such nice people, and the shop is great. I can't recommend them highly enough!

You know, I don't have a barn either, but our house has an open floor plan with a fairly large living area - I've half seriously considered getting a good condition vintage Vespa to leave in the living space as an art piece. Much nicer than some of the crap I see on some people's walls at least!

The 946 they have for sale at southsound scooters has a 200cc Malossi kit on it.
So the performance will be more like the 200Gt's which I think would make this a pretty decent ride with that displacement.
