Hello everyone

I have just purchased a 2000 LML star deluxe 150 in Hong Kong and was wondering if anyone has tried to buy parts for these bikes in Asia? Any websites to recommend with reasonable shipping fees and times?

Many thanks

I have a friend in Bangkok, Sam Mai, who owns a Vespa Shop.
There is a LML Shop down the road from him & i once managed to get to go there on a day it was normally closed, open specially for me!
Well, the LML parts were just that, LML PARTS... go with the SIP/Euro option for performance parts if possible.

Most of the parts sold in Thailand are junk Indian parts. That LML shop up from Mai's shop in Bangkok sells 99% junk. The really nice nos original parts they have are in display cases for show and not for sale .

Mr. Sam Mai regularly asks me to find him decent parts that I can find on eBay or stuff from Pascoli, or just original/good reproduction parts I have laying around that I'm not going to need. Most of his builds are done with Indian parts because many of his customers are fine with the low price and low quality. Sometimes he has a discerning customer who needs good parts, so that's when he asks me or other sources he has for help finding them.

There are some quite nice locally made parts, made in Thailand, such as wiring harnesses and stamped steel floors, but that's about it. There was a guy who custom made high quality stator coils, but he stopped as he's dang old and his kids aren't interested in continuing the craft.

I will agree with that...
i got 3x 8" VBC RIMS for Speedy, since then had continual PUNCTURES due to VALVE STEM SNAPPING OFF... Measured circumference and found they were less than the standard ones, so when taking off tyre would grip & rim would spin!

Needed a VBC FORK for Speedy, & that guy went out back & got me a NOS VBC FORK! Very impressed.

It was funny going thru customs xray at BKK with well over 20kg of metal Vespa parts, a full size SEAT & FORK in my carry-on backpack!
They let me thru.

Recently when i popped in to see Sam Mai (& the stunning Aom Sam) they sorted me out with a locally made REAR RACK... Ive waited years for one of them, now i need to work out how to make it fit over the King/Queen seat!

Nice Rack!

Those custom racks are cool. I have one on my PX. Although I'd prefer an original BBQ rack, I've grown to love this rack.

SIP is in Germany and sells some decent Italian parts and lots of "beautifully crafted" South Asian parts.

Mauro Pascoli makes and sells some pretty decent Italian made parts, but they are expensive. Their shipping rates border on absurd.

These companies just sell whatever is available to them. We shouldn't fault SIP for selling "Piaggio" Indian made junk as that's just what Piaggio does now.

NOS original original Piaggio in the blue label bag is always going to be original, but you won't find the big companies selling it.

The thing I like about a company like Scooter Mercato is that they sell the same stuff as the rest, but they also sell good used original parts as well. The coolest part I bought from them, even at a great price, was an original 80 MPH Veglia speedometer for a GS160. You won't find that on the SIP or Pascoli sites.

Then there's Peter in Denmark on eBay. He's in a league above everyone else. I mean, who else regularly just happens to have SS180 engine cases, GS160 Ulma trim, or other assorted hen's teeth.

Sometimes I don't want to wait so long for my parts to arrive so I buy locally in Asia.

Look at this clutch actuator arm.....

It depends.
What parts are you looking for?

Put a model-specific shopping cart together at either of the two German websites and see how it looks when you get to the final shipping $ page.

I have a few FB friends in Indonesia who get quite a few SIP* boxes, but try here as well:
