A lot of you have probably been here.

Sometime after buttoning the transmission back up it occurred to me I didn't check the belt direction on installation. Facepalm emoticon

Nothing to worry about?
Impending implosion?

It has been impressed upon me that belt direction is important. Enough that, when in your situation, I have taken the transmission back apart again.

That said, you've got a 50/50 chance here.

So it won't fail (or not fail) until you take the transmission cover off again?

you can't be sure if you really did install it backwards, maybe your memory is faulty or maybe even though you forgot to pay attention you were lucky and got it correct anyway

Last night, I couldn't remember if I'd locked the passenger door on my Silvertomatoe 1500....so I slipped my sneaks on and went out to check 'em, in my Y-fronts.
I found that the door was locked.
So, if I were you...I'd put some pants on and go check that belt.
I slept better, after I warmed up (it was 28°F last night)....and so will you🙃

O.S.

I myself strongly advise you to take the transmission cover off and locate the arrows and get your cell phone and take a picture. No take two pictures just in case you didn't push the right button first time. And don't forget to come back with a full report.

Great. I feel better after finishing my exhaust install and forgetting to tighten my axle nut. One of several procedures that got done over.

Peace of mind is a good thing....and piece of mind is 4 little bolts and one big nut away.

Don't worry, it's age related, a bit like belt wear.

Hmmm....I've always thought the rotation direction is marked just to help re-installing the same belt again = not to change the direction for a used belt, BUT, now that you mention this....

No help, sorry.

Follows this with interest Popcorn emoticon

BTW here's another thing everyone should know.

You never want to tighten the rear axle nut AFTER you've put the brake pads back to their working position. Always do that BEFORE squeezing the lever.

You don't wanna know how I came to this.

ummm ... this ain't making sense to me. I squeeze the rear brake to hold the wheel while I tighten the nut (clutch lock tool doesn't fit my malossi clutch)

Depends where you put it when you took it off.

_ Take belt off lay it on the floor. As long as the front of the belt is pointing forward it will be OK when you pick it up and put it back on.

As long as you pick it up the same way you put it down....
