Modern Vespa

I lead the club ride yesterday on local roads with 30 miles an hour speed limit. 18 Vespas. We met at Mercado Italiana and road to a park. I knew the back way. Lights and stop lights broke up the group. I stayed at 20-25 mph.

Once we arrived a guy rushed over to me and said indignantly. "In Italy, Vespa parades go very slowly and we all stay together!"

Good point I thought. That would have been more fun. More horn honking. I thought we were on a short ride. Leave it to the Italians to make a mundane ride into a Parade! I applaud the spirit.

Come to think of it, I was on my new Sei Giorni and in a parade of my own!

(But the idea that people can actually ride in nice temperatures at this moment, while I'm looking at a dark, grey, rainy close-to-freezing day with Winter ahead, is killing me .)

Billrush - what was your route? Would love to see it... I know Naples very well and really love the vibe there...

The ride started at Mercado Italiano which is a block away from Vespa Naples. West to Gulf Shore Boulevard. North to Banyon and then North to Crayton. Crayton basically ends at Clam Pass Park which is part open after the hurricane. The picture was taken there.

You would know these roads. They look pretty normal now but flood damage was horrendous all along this route post Hurricane Ian (9/28). Basically all of old Naples coast was flooded with 12' of storm surge and got worse north of there. Vespa Naples had about 20 flooded Vespas which are a total loss. They are a first class dealership.

Good on you guys with all year riding weather.

I put out a remote camera in my backyard to watch Blue Jays and
squirrels eat peanuts. It was 6 degrees Fah. I Just about froze
my hands off in a short time setting up the camera. Burr!

I have to remember to put the battery tender on the GTS300 tonight.

I lived in Stillwater,MN until moving here 4 years ago.

I had the best years of my life in Stillwater. In the winter we rode Fat Tire (4") bikes in the snow and had a blast. We knew how to dress for the cold.

Now I'm 71 and love the year round warmth. I'm enjoying this season. Minnesota is beautiful. Good job for having a positive attitude. Cheers.
