I'm looking at buying a 300GTS that has been resprayed from gloss black to Vespa's matt black. The bike appears to be well looked after with low kms.
Do you think the colour change reduces the value bike?

Yes. But my GTS has been resprayed once and it really looks better than it did before.

Do you have photos? Is the work done professionally or with a spray can? Were the add-on parts (lamps, speedometer, bumper, etc.) disassembled before painting or just taped? What is the result (paint noses, dust inclusions, edges, etc.)? What does the underbody look like? Can you exclude that there was damage to the vehicle before repainting?

The photos look good, I'm told it's a professional respray and the matt black is Vespa's factory colour. I'm going to have a look at it personally on Thursday. So I will be looking carefully at edges and bring the torch to look underneath.
I can't exclude any previous damage, although there is no nose beak on the front guard but that could be personal choice to have left it off.
I'm going to get a report using the bikes VIN that will tell me if it has been written off or if money is owing on it.

Yep, I'd give a hard look to the front under body right behind the front fender,
removing the front fender is a big job and likely a mask off short cut for most amateurs.
And look for overspray on the underbody area.

Good call ^ Looking at a bike from the bottom up, instead of top down, can reveal a lot.

At the end of the day, repainted or not, you should pay a price that you feel is right, feel reflects the bike, and also feel reflects what it's resale value would be both if you decided not to keep it and if you kept it for a couple years and wanted something else.

If you're okay with all that, time for a new toy!

only if it's a limited edition or it's a poor paint job.
