Being one of maybe 5 PTW Door Dash Drivers in my area. I get a lot of attention and comments about it.
While the black beater was down for repairs, I used the red devil for DD about 2,500 miles. People were complementing the red bikes looks as well as doing DD on a bike. With the black bike, comments are only about DD.

breaknwind,

This Door Dash is becoming popular as a part time money maker.
This doesn't apply to scooters, but if you are Door Dashing with
your car you need to get an endorsement on your auto insurance
policy. Actually pretty reasonable - $55 for 6 months more.

The problem is you could void your policy in an accident while
operating your car for delivery type business.

Worst case scenario: You want to make some good side cash so you
start delivering with Door Dash (Do not endorse your auto policy).
While in the process of delivering, you cause an at fault accident
and the other party is injured to the tune of $250,000. Your company
contractually voids coverage. You are personally sued for
$250,000. The other party puts a judgement against you and a lien
on your home (If you own one). Your credit is ruined by the
judgement you can't get a car loan or buy a house. If you had a
home (Can't be taken from you) but, they get the first $250,000
if sold.

All this to just make some nice side cash.

Another note: Many preferred Auto Insurance Companies will not
due Door Dash or Uber.

Full Disclosure: I have no idea how Scooter/Motorcycles policies
work with Door Dash. Find out if Door Dash affords coverage.
You can reach Door Dash at (855) 431-0459.

So many questions. I would imagine a bike or scooter could handle a bag of sandwiches or burgers but do you get anything challenging? Like a pizza. Even more challenging.....drinks?

I'll bet you have some stories to tell about the people and orders you run across.

My scooter insurance policy specifically excludes using the scooter for commercial pickups or deliveries.

Dooglas,

You are correct sir. I dug into the m/c scooter policies sold by the
companies I represent - commercial use would void the insurance.

You can buy a commercial policy for this purpose. My concern.
The average person door dashing on the side is not getting a
commercial policy.

Here is the definition. On the way to pick up items to deliver,
delivering those items, then return home are all considered
part of the commercial operation. While delivering, I think coverage
from Door Dash Corp kicks in. The problems is en route and returning.

That is the specific coverage that is provided by for example,
Progressive Insurance.

Sorry about the too much boring insurance stuff.

In Florida proof of insurance is not required but I'll check into it. My current insurance is $250 a year each. Can't be much more.

I accepted an order that said it was a small order from a pet store. I had to carry a 35 lb bag of dog food 12 miles on the slab. Only my heels fit on my floor and my feet stuck out.

Random video.
