Hi all
I got my hands on a sound bomb min horn to replace my horn as its crap.
I think the sound bomb mini is DC. My vespa T5 is AC.
I tried installing it but it didnt work.
Is there a converter or something i can do with the wiring.

Website says it's 12 volts 5 amps, your going to need an AC to DC converter capable of more than 5 amps or 60 watts. Not sure original horn wire will support that kind of amp draw either, It's the same as a 60 watt high beam headlight bulb.

Wiring diagram says T5 regulator is 80 watts max. If you live in a country such as the US that requires a front running light on at all times a low beam headlight is 30 or 35 watts, then tail light and anything else on may leave 40-50 watts maximum unused. You could press horn button and blow main fuse if you have one.

Something like this

Going to have to make sure wiring from AC source is a large enough gauge or diameter to support that much current draw.

If I were actually going to actually go through all of this for a horn, I'd replace horn with a 12 volt AC relay or a DC relay with a small AC to DC converter with enough power for a relay. Then run all new proper gauge wire to relay, converter and horn.

Use dedicated wires & add a Bridge Rectifier

Mount By front wheel.

I also have one on AnaKey, but had to point it down a bit, as would fill up with rain!

It's just a 60's car horn

Yeah the current draw is way too high for it to work.

Not many bikes will have wiring setup up for that horn.

Even when I changed my wiring to DC on my PX200, still needed a smaller horn.

Tried your exact horn on a Yamaha TW200 and didn't work. Most stock motorcycle horns have a much lower amps requirement.

I use the Nautilus horn mounted on my rear rack. The package has everything and it plugs right into my existing horn button Plenty loud.
