Welcome Automagic to MV!

I know almost nothing about Vespa tire sizes. My Sei Giorni has 120/70/12 in the front and 130/70/12 in the rear. So you are wanting the wider tire in the front. You might just have one of that size you want to use, or you are wanting a performance difference?

Did your scooter come with a 120 in the front?

Also, you have a Vie Della. I've not see that in the U.S. I wonder if it was ever available in the US?

Best to you!

A 130/70/12 tire will fit easily on the front.

Just for fun, to try to control a wobble, I put a 140/70/12 on the front of one of my GTs.

It fit fine and helped the wobble problem, but went back to a new 120/70/12 that also helped cure it.

I sometimes run a 140/70/12 rear tire for a taller gearing that brings a higher top speed in perfect conditions.

But over the years realized that Piaggio knows what they are doing when specifying tire sizes.

So I stick with the stock sizes now.

Hi Thanks for the replies,
I just thought it would look a little better with a fatter tyre in the front,
And it will make the wheels interchangeable because there is only one rotational arrow on the tyre and no ABS ring,

since every 130 I've seen says only "rear" not "rear or front", it only has one arrow. if you did stick it on the front then you should reverse the direction.

City Grip 2 comes in a front/rear in the 130/70/12 size https://www.americanmototire.com/michelin-city-grip-2-130-70-12-62s-front-rear-reinforced-71961/

Personally I prefer to stick to the Piaggio specs.

curious, does that have one or two arrows on it? ie, does Michelin suggest flipping it for the front vs rear? (have hunted google for a clear pic of a 130 city 2 but can't find one)

just pondering ... if sticking a 130 on the front, maybe would be good to stick a 140 on the rear? No idea if this is a good thought? eg running the same size front and rear would effectively be lifting the front of the bike -> that in itself is gonna be different handling.

I've seen people stick 140/70-12 front and back. I've used a 130/80-12 rear and 120/80-12 front to get more ground clearance, without issue. It's not like the thing handles like an R1 to begin with.

It has two. I don't have pictures but I installed four of them a couple of weeks ago. Front is reverse of rear.

That's what I guessed when cdwise said it was for front and rear.

So Automagic's idea of being able to swap front and rear wheels when using both 130 wouldn't be "correct" with a city 2

Wouldn't it work if soy switched install directions? I've neve4 used a front/rear tire so have no clue.

I've run a 130 on the front, and have done so both times I've run Cannonball. It makes the front steering a little bit "heavier", more like the GT200 (for those that remember what that felt like). It clears without a problem.

The "why" is a bit obscure. For me, it was having a spare tire/wheel combo on the support truck that could go on the front or the rear.

if they took the tire off the rim and flipped it when swapping the wheels then yes as the arrows would be then pointing in the correct direction.

But my interpretation of the earlier question which said swapping the wheels and also mentioned the lack of abs rings led me to assume they meant swapping the whole wheel (rim+tire) without taking the tire of the rim. Else their mention of no abs rings would not have been relevant

Fair enough, as I said I've never used a front/rear. I have a mounted rear as a cannonball spare but I have a shop mount my tires. My limited wrenching skills are used only when I don't have other options.

Hi, I have looked at the tyres this morning, They are Kenda K418,
They have only 1 rotational arrow on each side,( No front or rear ).
My thoughts were , I could put them on both wheels and as the rear always wears quicker, when the rear is halfway worn, swap them over then change them as a pair when they need to be changed.

I couldn't do this on my GTS as it has a ABS ring on the back wheel .
Thanks for your comments, I wish i had joined years ago.
