Today I visited an amazing museum just outside Madrid displaying hundreds of bikes made solely in Spain including Motovespas and Lambrettas.

Fantastic. What a fun place. Love the Ossa street bike! You pretty much only see dirt/trail bikes around. Any bultacos there of note?

I am so glad you posted the pictures, they look awesome. Spain and Italy made one of the leading 2 stroke motorcycles for a decades. Angel nieto won 11 or 12 world championships on derbi and Bultaco(spanish brand), others like Jordi Tarres won 7 world championships Trial on trial Motorcycles(Betta and gas-gas). Toni Bou has won 16 world championships on trial motorcycles with Montesa(spanish brand). In the 60s and 70s Bultaco, Ossa and Montesa were top 3.
All of these were legendary 2 stroke bikes. That picture of the ossa 500cc is straight out scary. Yamaha had the RZ350cc 2t. In the 90's Cagiva mito cagier fressccia with 7 speed I believe, Gileras and Aprillas 125cc along with some Hondas NSR 2T 125cc were superb. |
