It looks a bit like a Stormtrooper.

Personally I don't understand the electric vehicle fetish that has infected so many people. I have driven a Tesla and the acceleration was very impressive. But it was oddly quiet. Don't you ever miss two strokes? I know I miss RD 350. It sounded so frantic. My brother had a Kawasaki two stroke triple. It wailed and the power band was very peaky. I guess it is the difference between camping and glamping. Also if you forget to get gas it is less than 2 minutes to fill up. To each their own and I hope they don't outlaw internal combustion in my lifetime.

Although I love the burble of my Guzzi and the hum of our Vespas, the relative silence of an EV wouldn't be an issue for me. If you need sound, rig a throttle-actuated audio setup to broadcast the desired engine profile. Want it to sound like a Malossi-kitted GTS 300 with an Akrapovic exhaust? How about an EBike that sounds like Harley Panhead running straight pipes? No problem.
I doubt small ICEs will be completely outlawed, but the price of fuel may eventually make riding them prohibitive for the average enthusiast. |

Sure, part of the attraction of a motorcycle is the engine sound (at least to me.) The same way an approaching horse carriage or steam locomotive sounds fantastic to many. We'll get over that. |

On second thought: maybe our bikes will still have combustion engines, possibly fueled by hydrogen. There is a good chance though, at least out of the factory, that they will be much quieter too. It's the general trend with motorcycles and cars, to limit the noise emissions.
As for the range, I think it's sufficient. I see plenty of electric, uh what's the word, mopeds? And they seem to suit their riders just fine. They are made for short distance travel within urban centers and are quite capable of doing that. That wheelbase on that BMW though! I wouldn't wish that on anybody for city riding. ⚠️ Last edited by giallo on UTC; edited 1 time

Guzzi Gal it isn't just the sound. I don't like that EVs are expensive and are subsidized by the government, I don't like the charging stations are subsidized. It really is a case of the poor subsidizing the. I am unsure of future cost since rechargeable batteries have a lifetime. Accelerating in the Tesla may quicker but accelerating on my GTS is better to me. I also have to admit I like doing maintenance on my scooter. I like to hear and feel it running good after I have worked on it.

Guzzi Gal wrote: Thanks, I think. I left it in quotations because it is a saying that is a big part of my family. It is what my father said to my mother on their first dance, in 1946. The young women of Jacksonville had a dance for the young Naval Aviators that were stationed at the local Naval Air Station. Upon hearing that my mother had made the pretty dress she was wearing, that is what my father said to her. The marriage lasted 72 years until my father passed away right before Covid hit in 2020. Mom is still going at 96, but starting to slow down. Bill |
