Modern Vespa

I have a vespa lx50 but the seat lock never locks, I only got it a few weeks ago so I didn't damage it, I bought it that way.


Do I need to replace this

what you need to replace, comes down to whatrver is broken, but have you cheched if you can spray it with some lube???

I already tried that and it didn't do the job

The key in the seat turns but when pressed down it doesn't lock

Assuming you've already lubricated heavily and SMACKED and pushed down on the seat, hard, when you turn the key in the seat is it doing anything?

The guy I bought it from said the "key bit works, it's just the mechanism needs replacing"

So could that be the mechanism or the cable he may not be knowledgeable

It could be either for goodness sake - we're not there to look at it! Just eyeball it, work out how it should work, then you'll spot why it doesn't work.

Just open the cover and see if the cable works the lever. If it does, maybe the pin/catch is broken.

If all of that works and isn't broken, loosen the seat (two bolts) and realign it.

Remove the gas tank cover that will expose the locking mechanism. Put a couple rubber rings to raise the opening mechanism. That will fix your problem.
