Modern Vespa

Well, Christmas came a bit early this year. Thanks to the folks at Vespa Motorsport San Diego, some of my Vespa Store USA orders arrived.
Some photos enclosed, we now have;

I will post more photos as we take them. I haven't had much time with any of them yet, but I can tell you they're going to be great fun.
I can't believe how purple the new Intusiasta SuperTech is, it's almost not a silver at all especially in the sun. The Ottismista SuperTech is more adult looking, bronzey (is that a word?!?) and sophisticated looking. The Bianco Innocente is anything but Innocente, sharp looking and with the included graphics, very much what I would call a 1970's sport look. The seat is SOOOO comfortable on the Bianco Innocente Super Sport....



I can tell you that the Vespa Store online does work, if you put your order in, you get some concept of priority of what's ordered, so if there's something your heart is after, have no fear in placing the order on Vespa USA website. You can choose the dealer where you want it delivered to or have them deliver it to you. I placed these orders in October and November and they came very early. I expected the Red and Orange sooner because it said delivery within 30 days on the order confirmation. The SuperTech claimed to be 120 days out, but they delivered with the Bianco Innocente. Just happy to have them in the family, no matter what comes when.


Many thanks to TC, Robot and Alex at Vespa Motorsport San Diego who always take very good care of us, they are very kind, fair and knowledgeable. Like Robot said in one of his videos, there's really nobody out there with the charisma and outright love of the Vespa product like these guys!

So... when are you going to start your own dealership?

I've got to get myself a Bronze Supertech, I wonder if they will be available in the UK?

I would think you would have had them before we did. I hope you find one, it's a stunning color!

Whoever secured the vehicle on the last picture: I highly recommend placing the loops on the handlebars as far inside as possible!

This reduces the leverage forces enormously, the greater angle also makes the belt more diagonally taut and prevents the belt from slipping off in case of emergency.

This is just a rehearsal don't take it so seriously

watch this video. RobaLatte appears to be using one of these straps that crosses over.

I used Canyon Dancers on every Vespa for years, since the first generation of the design. These are available on Amazon, the newest version has cups that lock onto the handlebars such as not to cause any damage and properly secure the front end.

I've used them for years, thank goodness, many many trips without any issues whatsoever. I DO however tie down both front and the back both Right and Left so that it doesn't move whatsoever and always make sure to lock the ratchet so that it has no chance of coming undone. Not my first time at the rodeo but I am always open to new ideas and concepts that work for others

Sorry, I didn't realize that a side-to-side harness system was used to prevent the vertical straps from slipping. However, with the system shown, my criticism remains that the tensioning force acts downward relatively far out on the handles, thus creating a relatively strong leverage effect.
