Modern Vespa

All BBCode tags are removed from the text before indexing so as not to clutter the index. This is especially true of quote blocks (which would produce a lot of duplicate search results) but links are problematic too, as sloppy, overly-large links with lots of extraneous garbage are just noise to the index.

The one open question that I don't readily know the answer to is if you paste a bare link, without BBCode tags, will any of it survive indexing? Maybe. I don't have the code in front of me at the moment (I'm in Portugal right now) but it's possible that the more word-like portions of a link might make it into the index.

Or I might have deliberately removed bare links, too. It's been a while since I wrote the strip-for-indexing code — actually about 10 years ago, for a previous search indexing effort.

Using X Search looking for AI, going through the options, comes up with No Matches.
