New to organizing events. This will be my first multi day project. Six days; 1100 miles; camping and/or hotels. No exact date yet but 2023. Small group limited to <15>. Please, some assistance/suggestions would be appreciated. Check out our Facebook page 'Scooter Overland Adventure Route' to see what we're about. Working on sponsorship, news coverage, and…support vehicle? As the page states backroads. Busiest section passes through Chattanooga on day 5. Sections will be downloadable for a Garmin GPS and available in the future for solo tours too. Plan to do an unofficial run with our group and you can invite yourself(s). We've been working on this route for nearly four years. This is the only scooter designed 'loop' that we know of in America or the world for that matter. GPS Larry has a suggested scooter route that crosses the USA. Logistics for this are a problem…getting to the destination and back to the starting point. This circular route you can start anywhere and end up at the beginning. This helps with logistics if hauling the scoot. Plus 70% of the population of USA are within a day's drive if transporting your scooter to this area. Thanks all for your help.

Hi Soartenn and welcome to Modern Vespa.
Your post kind of reminds me of a fellow from San Diego who was relocating to Australia. His idea was to have a group ride "Once Around Australia" similar to what you describe with sponsors, support vehicles, social media and press coverage. He had I guess I'm not exactly clear on what your question is. Are you looking to start a tour company? Are you looking for advice on routes? Are you interested in surveying what sights / highlights scooterists want to travel to? I sincerely hope you have success, whatever your goal may be. |

Route is already laid out. Just trying to get fellow Scooterists interested in long distance touring on their scooters. Also bring tourists to remote areas and to see the beauty of the Tennessee countryside as our group has. Did you look at our Facebook page? The hopeful sponsors we're working with will be or still negotiating with are the Tennessee Department for Tourism Development; Upper Cumberland Development District; East Tennessee DD; Southeast Tennessee DD; Greater Nashville Regional Council; public TV WCTE for their series 'Wish You Were Here'. I have a presentation this Wednesday to a couple of the district representatives. We're stretched thin. The more help and interest from scooterists and/or clubs the better. Like I previously stated we're a small group with big plans. Our local magazine 'Cumberland Now' is featuring our group in their January 2023 edition. Great way to start the New Year! Thank you for your questions so that I may clarify our goals.

The SOAR Route can also include bicycle touring and vintage cars since we are utilizing low speed/low volume roads. Photo below shows the Cumberland Mountains in the distance.

Just got home from the presentation I delivered to the Upper Cumberland Development District. They showed an interest plus offered suggestions concerning my question for a host server where our SCOOT Group could post a downloadable GPS version of the SOAR Route available free to the public.

Not sure what you're looking at…should be able to google 'Scooter Overland Adventure Route Facebook' and on one of the posts…December 31…there is a post pictured with blue, red, yellow and green folders. Click on that post should open the files. One of our group was able to download the GPX file to his Garmin Zumo XT. Let me know if this works. Thanks!
