I recognize that I'm in the minority here.
I found this site when I was looking for basic information on my first scooter. The plan was to use it as a grocery-getter. I had (and still have) a good local shop, so no ambition to wrench and not really in need of technical assistance. That was 2007.
Since then, my riding goals and interest in / requirements for wrenching have evolved. But I still hang out in the house that Jess built mostly for the NSR posts.
I get a little misty-eyed when I see Julie added sparkles to a photo or Judy tells someone "I have one. I'll send it to you." or when Al or Arno revs up for a good argument. I chuckle (or groan) when M@ or Lucky starts stirring the pot. Seeing the name of my former riding pals gogogordy, Pat, Quasi-modo or grscum, better yet, ritchj, starreem or glasseye always brings a smile to my face.
All that is prelude to acknowledging I'm also very much in the minority in enjoying necro-posts.
So, please, my fellow MVers, don't spoil the fun. Most have been here long enough to know when to leave well enough alone. Especially after receiving a warning. And if your excuse is you're new, then be polite and tread lightly.
I hate it when perfectly good threads get locked.

I think there's definitely something positive to be said for necroposts, at least for some posts. I tried to articulate the rationale around what makes a bad necropost and what makes a good necropost (in a necroposted thread that I myself revived). Sadly, I don't think I got my point across. You can draw your own conclusions as to why.

But I stand by my statement: reviving some ancient thread to ask a question of the original recipients is poor form. Bumping a funny or lively thread from days gone by is quite reasonable, when done with moderation and taste.

imo, addressee = willfully obtuse
and me, too, to a certain extent. I understand the downside of reviving a thread containing out-of-date information. It certainly can have a negative impact on those in search of technical advice / information. But I'm mainly here for the entertainment value. Thanks for providing it!

Please, my fellow MVers, don't be a dick.

Thanks for unlocking the other thread. I was referencing that one and another (not yet locked) thread, where an MVer didn't want to get your point . Sorry to have you do extra housekeeping. I'll try not to spill my martini on the way out.

I'll probably leave the other thread as-is. It was always going to careen wildly toward divisiveness, lurching and gurgling and spitting along the way. Short of locking it, there's little to be done except leaving some heads on pikes as a warning to others.

Probably not fun for you and the other moderators but many of these incidents are endlessly entertaining (for me) to read.

I guess you deserve my apology.

The rider on the orange scoot is hardly dress properly for riding. Likely a Lambretta type.
