This is a tricky repair.

years ago, i had a local aquantance Greg "The Bling King" King repair a set of original beadings on my Augsburg GS150. Truth be told, they were not SS. . . but brass! so after Greg did his work, i sent them up to Muncie Chrome to be rechromed. Greg has since sold off his equipment and bought a farm near Michigan City.

Now my thoughts on this repair.. . .it is NOT for the faint at heart. . . .and i would NOT trust any restorationist with this problem. Josh Snow comes to mind and he has done several in the past and i have seen his work. You may want to reach out to Mr. Snow.

good luck!

Thanks for the 411.

I have a polishing service I trust locally. But the bike this 044 came of off was laid down so it has both dents and scrapes that need to be worked.

Side bar: Do you still have the Augsburg GS150?!?! Damn. pics please.

that is exactly what i am writing about. . . the deep, deep dings. . and mine had many. all that has to be worked out. This is when it needs to go to someone with a track record of this type of work because you are working within a tube and not the back of a panel.

Yes, I still have it. Last time I rode it was AmerVespa in Wisconsin. It is by far perfect. I bought it from a friend that imported it into the USA. He had It painted and the motor rebuilt at a "pro" shop. Not naming names, but it was a joke. I have since rebuilt the engine to my standards. I built the bike as it came to me painted, but in pieces. Someday I will strip it down, do the metal work, and send it back out for paint. As it stands to the naked eye: 9/10. But a closer look under the fender and under the cowls tells a different story.

still absolutely gorgeous

GS150 was the high watermark in vespa style. And that taillight is bonus points of extra cool.

I have the stainless embellishments for the cowls, in fact on, but no pics. I should get it out and do something there.

The Denfield seat is a build in and of itself. The nicest seat I have ever sat on. Complicated and the aluminum trim is a little tricky to install, it does not come curved for the seat. Here is a pic of having the springs in place. Next step is to glue the cover to the rails and install the aluminum beading.
