I saw a stray cat, err Kitten crossing the intersection the other day. Spoiler it made it back to the side of the road. All the cars stopped until it was in sight again. I wanted to pull over and try and bring it home, luckily my senses came back to me and I drove off.
My dog would have been okay with it, but not my fish or plants. And I don't think kitty would be okay with dog. So I wasn't calling Huston to tell them I had a problem. The strays around me are well fed. Meet UTurn, Uturn has a bent tail that got caught in bike spokes a couple of times. Horrible situation, he had to calm down and back out of the mess he was in. |

Hi folks
As longtime lurker here and after having gained a lot of useful info keeping my scooters healthy, I thought you might be interested in a happy feline outcome. A 2'ish month old kitten was brought into my clinic choking, underweight and covered in fleas. The 'breeder' wanted it put to sleep as they had no funds for any investigation or treatment. She was a friendly vocal little scrap so I took the decision to take over ownership and treatment costs and would then find a home for her if all went well. X rays showed an oesophageal obstruction which was the result of a congenital malformation of blood vessels from the heart causing a vascular ring abnormality. This is a little out of my surgical skill range but one of my vet's partner is a specialist surgeon at the nearby university who agreed (was strongarmed) into doing some risky thoracic surgery. If the outcome without intervention is death we had little to lose. Long story short, everyone stayed late, multiple nurses and vets got busy and things turned out very well. She came home with me that night since we have no 24 hour nursing provision at the clinic. This was on Friday and by the next day she was eating, increasingly active and exploring. She is now called Dora the explorer. It is now Tuesday and she has reverted to full time kittening, has slapped the dogs into place and is now a member of the pack and the family. It seems she's here to stay. The offending oesophageal constrictor
