Modern Vespa

I was at Vespa Motorsport Yesterday and they had taken in a VERY clean Vintage Red GTS 250. For anyone interested, they have a great price on it and it's in super good condition, I haven't seen one quite like it for awhile.

I used to own one back in 2007 or 8 and loved the color. I would buy it myself if I wasn't doing all the new 23 models -- so anyone with interest, call Vespa Motorsport

And some MV trivia: the link highlight color used all around MV -- which also is the color that signifies "new content" -- is my approximation of the GTS Vintage Red color.

Hmm, never considered a 2006 to be "vintage". For motorcycle shows the cutoff is usually 1975 or 1980.

"Vintage Red" is actually the color...

I have the 2008 GTS250ie in the preferred colour and she's lots of fun. Not vintage red though.

Dragon Red was a different color -- it was the regular red GTS color that I and a whole slew of other people had. Common, even. This was largely because the GTS in Dragon Red was widely known to be the fastest color.

Vintage Red is darker, skewing a bit toward brown. Some have even compared it to the color of liver.

I think Vintage Red is pretty close to the actual vintage Vespa Rally models from back in the day.

Modern Vintage Red

My favorite red Vespa color was the 2018 touring version which I don't believe was called Vintage Red from this thread 2018 GTS 300 Touring - It's here !

Interesting! That certainly does look very similar to Vintage Red, whatever they might have called it on that go-round. I don't think I realized they were using that color in 2018.

It was only available in the special touring edition that came with front and rear racks with small windshield. It was second choice to the Verde Speranza I bought.

Dragon Red GTS250i is timeless.

It has always been my favorite color.

The Rosso Vignola, as the colour was called on the 2017(EU)/2018(US) version, is a metallic paint.

The vintage red on the 2006 version is the same colour, it's just not a metallic paint.

(Unless I'm terribly wrong, but honestly I don't think I am – this time ).

Vintage red was only produced in the USA as a 2007 model.

There you are SDG!! Long time no hear, hope all is well with you, Linda and the family~ Sure miss you guys! There was a dent or a scratch under the sticker according to Alex @ Vespa Motorsports. Couldn't have been to significant though, the sticker looked super flush.

I bought mine in 2008 with less than 2,000 miles on it. I still have it and it now has over 40,000 more miles on the clock.

I just finished repainting it and it is looking great.

It is currently in disrepair because of a partial wiring harness meltdown. It will be repaired by the time springtime riding weather gats here.

I hope you've retained the original VR colour otherwise I'll get the mods to forfeit your VRM moniker

Piaggio does not make the actual mixing formula public but if you take a piece to an automotive paint supplier they have a camera that can analyze it and print out the mixing formula.

They got so close that I couldn't tell the difference between the original paint and the new.

I saw one of them while on a club ride, and fell in love. Went shopping the next day!

The vintage red color. It just looks like it needs a couple of blood transfusions

Agreed. A friend is a Vespa and Guzzi tech, has the vintage red, seems to like Dragon better as well. We're in good company.
