Sadly the photo and video don't show the real brightness of the LED strip. I could take a photo in the dark but that's cheating.

EDIT: here is someone else's similar Adding a light strip to a newer Vespa top case

Nice size and placement. I preferred the boxes with the lenses, even if they were fake, because it was a no-brainer as far as adding lights. But your application looks does look sharp.

Some construction pics

Making a bracket by bending some scrap metal

Brackets painted and covered in black cloth tape and screwed to the seat pad

Cable routing with connector so I can remove the box

Hacking into the wiring

This is the light I used. I chose to only wire the brake and not the tail or turn.

I would have thought that from a car driver's seated position the brake light strip would be partially obscured by the 'hump' of the top box lid?

In a sports car - yes. In a SUV quite the opposite. In an average car - well that would depend on how close they are behind me.

Putting it above / below the licence plate like I see many others do seems pointless to me.

I did consider some sort of bracket to mount it at bottom of the box right at the rear but couldn't come up with a design I liked.

Since it's a secondary I'll be content without 100% visibility.

Edit:

also remember the box is curved and the light is near enough to the peak of the curve ... Maybe more visible than you suspect?

Admore LED bar mounts easily under a Piaggio case.
True, not a subtle as your light.

Good project since many car drivers now watching their phones instead what is front of them. Any additional brake light rise (y)our safety.
Helmet brake light would be good add-on too. Now just searched Alibaba and they already made this under name "Motorcycle Helmet Turn Signal Light Helmet Brake Light for Night Riding Safety"

Thanks for this (and the link) SteelBytes.

Bought the same LED module and wired it in as a stop/tail.

Glued to my Givi base plate, so it remains on the bike if riding without the top box. 👍

PS the LED module slides inside of its housing, so had to centralise it after taking that pic. Now I have to do the ET2.
