I am down to the last pile of stuff in the center of the shop for sorting.
I was gonna post a pic of that t'night - but y'all have to just use your imagination - because apparently I failed to push the shoot button.

As for my stirpper pole - it's all gonna make sense - you just gotta be patient.
But its true - this is not your prostitute grandmother's shop.
Not that I don't respect your grandmother.
Or her pole talents.

Alas - its not a stripper pole - but its a critical part of my new lay out.

Some of my wife's most common sayings are , "What did you do to yourself?" "Why are you bleeding?" and "You're always hurting yourself."

I'm less accident-prone and more full-on injury-prone.

what's killing me is that I know I've seen something like that somewhere and I just can't place it.

question: is the black/metal thing a track or a rail?

the frame doesn't look HD enough to support a winch/lifting hoist type apparatus, but would be just about right for cable/line management... the "cut outs" or struts would probably match the spacing of the LSL rafters....

Y'all are all around it, but not quite on it. Sometimes it's good to get hung up on things, But your willingness to move can also be beneficial in uncovering critical underlying milk-hazy memory buckets.

it's some kind of system for moving storage boxes, that I'm fairly sure of.

I'm guessing that it'll be on a track and pulley system so that it can be raised/lowered and moved side to side to access different areas.

I'll hazard a guess that it's so that you can paw thru parts boxes in situ without hustling stuff up and down the ladder.

and it stores up and out of the way when not in use.

its the frame for a limo style side car for the bar crawl!! that way everybody can just pile on in!

I built something similar shaped for a friend's Skateboard shop. He found an old library ladder (that had wheels on the top and bottom of the feet). He used it for quick ladder access to his overhead shelves. It was a pretty cool setup once it was all together.


Or it could be a lower footrest for the long bar table that you'll be building next? And when i mean a bar table, i actually mean an ice cream parlor table for all of the ice cream socials that you'll be hosting. Two scoops of rocky road for me please!

I'm going to be really sad now when I learn it's not because CM2 is hosting the OC's first Vintage-only Zeppelin & Rigid Inflatable Rally while I'm out there.

Hockey stuff: we'll, in past life/ pre Vespa, that was both my passion and paying job. I chased the dream - but ended up working more with the pros then playing with them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As they like to say: go to the goal with your stick on the ice. Good things can happen…

So I did (metaphorically- cause I was a goalie) and if you believe Popular Science, invented a pretty popular stick called the Synergy. Probably still get a whack of hits if you put my name/hockey/synergy into the internets.
Seems like another lifetime now.

Since it paid for most of that shop - felt right paying some homage. Haven't looked at some of that stuff for a decade. Was kinda cool taking it out and putting it up on display for myself.
Surprised by my own reaction to seeing it again.

Gladiator. I've been buying it for years. I always keep my eyes out for sales, to save a little bit of money. I had a lot of it in my garage, at my house. I was really bummed that I was going to have to leave it for the new owner, but when we did our walk-through, he looked at the garage wall, and said would you mind terribly taking that down. Ha ha ha ha ha. I was like: sure, anything. I've still got miles of it tucked away under the shelves, and will it continue to put more up.

Highly recommend.

The worst part of mine was all the crap I have in the bins.
Actually - the smaller the items to sort - the worse.
F*cking screws and nuts by size!

Speaking of $$$$:

Epoxy floor was $6000... so, I opted for carpet at $150 ea for the big ones.
They are washable.
Kinda like the way they make the place feel - and I won't feel bad trashing them.

Tool boxes are Husky.
Internet's said Husky (HD) and US General (Harbor Freight) are the two best values.
I shopped both and tried every model.
US Gen are very nice - but the drawer lock system made me want to shoot myself.
Also - self/soft close drawer mechanism was a must for me.

I had written off Husky at first - they have a 6 wheel system that also entices violence. I like to pull out my tool box and have it right next to my set up when I am working on the scoot: no walking.
6 wheel system is a constant wrestling match.
Discovered that HD stocks their boxes on display - which is to say - in process of getting damaged.
Some had the damn things outside - and they were ALL rusted.
Crazy.

But ALL were willing to deal on price.
Mine is missing the Husky logo - and there is a scratch on the top.
20% off + another $100 for opening a HD card - so I did - and bought the two units. Great.
They are spectacular (compared to my old stuff).
My kids will inherit these.
Shame neither knows what to do with a wrench - assuming they knew what a wrench was.

washable rugs. who knew?

I kinda dig the matte black. Drawers are smooth as glass with soft close feature I like. Woulda been nice if they had a labeling system.

I like using old rugs and carpet remnants in the garage. I kneel on them park the scooter on them, and generally thrash them, then they get tossed. By then, another from the house gets relegated to be tossed, so I to the garage it goes.

My wife heard me playing Led Zeppelin on my phone and I replayed the vid for her. Here are her comments:

How'd he get that scooter up there?
Oh, there's the cool sidecar!
Is that KITT?
He needs to label those drawers - even he's gonna forget where stuff is in those drawers.
Ohhh, self closing - fancy!

Get a label maker and go crazy. The shop is a fantasy.

For the record (so to speak) as I was organizing - I had imagined using either Funk 49 (for its all time top 5 opening riff) or Custard cupcake (for the same reason) Neither of which could be found - after 35 years of not pulling out the vinyl.

I thought for sure someone would give me some gruff for the failed self close drawer & sliding board that wouldn't roll all the way - so I left em in. 🙂 An excellent idea.

Weirdly - I have a map in my brain of where all the stuff is.
That said - there are two or three drawers in the entire shop that I always confuse - always - and I am incapable of spelling (so I need a label maker with spell check or y'all are gonna laugh at me).

All suggestions welcome - and a good label maker is an excellent one.
