They're already clean . In Socal washer and dryer are in the garage with the scoots. I used the parts washer at work, it's a nice perk.

I bought the feeler gauges already too now.

Anyone care to post up links to their favorite scissors jacks? This one is probably good but options are nice.
I bought from scooter west a blue scissor jack like you have pictured, love it . Works up and down easier then I thought it would ,quite strong and stable.

Motovista's team does kick ass an moving some parts. About done poking at my '08 SportCity One 50F with the Diagno-stick and I'll be throwing an order to them tomorrow night. Hoping to get it rebuilt and do some more tuning to my buddy's Zuma before SuperSunday.

Supposedly kitted, but has a puny Naraku carb and other shenanigans afoot.

At least confirmed it isn't locked up today.

I've heard that sanding the foam to get rid of the craters is one way to do it. My first quick try says yeah the 60 grit may work.

Just don't use a sandpaper flap wheel on a grinder! I saw some videos suggesting this. You need a very steady hand with the grinder or you will gouge the foam. I don't have such a steady hand

I found hand sanding with a block + a sharp utility knife worked much better.

Yes, 100% agreed to start with least aggressive method and work up instead of the other way .

I like the electric knife idea but don't have one. On the front section sanding alone will get it, I'm sure of it. On the pillion space, I'm thinking cutting off 1/4-1/2" or so and then sanding it might be easier than trying to sand down the whole area. A hacksaw blade, a drywall knife, or a kitchen serrated bread knife are the objects temping me to use them.

I'm thinking no need to add more foam, it can probably work with a slightly lower profile.

If you can rig up a hot wire, that would work great on the foam. Get a fan set up, though. The wee bit of smoke may not be good to breathe.

for the feeler gauges I swear by these

don't bother with the adjuster tools, they're a waste of time. I have them and only use the inserts for buddy/honda valves.

same with the T-handle oil filter tool. just use channel locks. or buy filters with the hex on them.

everything else there looks good.

it's unlikely you'll need an exhaust gasket, they're not exactly wear items but it's always a good idea to have one on hand.

if you can wait on the hardware, I'll throw some in your "to go box"

throw a crank nut on there and an extra sump o-ring.
😂 you could have saves me 40 bucks, valve adjuster sockets are too thick to get on Sprint valve lock nuts. the square tappet adjuster thing works but is unnecessary

OK it's bugging me. The top ring had no marking to decide which way is up. The scooterwest videos had me looking for an "n", which I found on the 2nd ring and pointed up. But I studied the crap out of that top ring and nothing was there. So I guessed and moved on. But now it's nagging me.

Is there another way to tell if I have it right? I can still pull the jug off the piston pretty easily and fix it if anyone has a suggestion. But there's no marking so I'd be looking for another way to tell if it is right.

All right then. I didn't have instructions but I've found them on the SIP website. There is a way to tell.

Lesson learned: it was the assembly oil that made it visible. So try some oil if you can't find it.

I got the cylinder and head back on and the head torqued. This weekend I can get the rest buttoned up.

I'm trying mightily to resist the urge to order the Polini upgear. It's a struggle. The only hard thing about installing it is the gear press off and on portion, but I think I've got that covered with a serious press here at work.

I'm trying to convince myself that it's easy to do later in the bike, but that voice keeps telling me to do it all now.....

I agree with the voice. I've seen reference to carrying the front tire with a 190 on stock gears. No bueno if this scoot is supposed to do some rider training duty.

I love it justifying it as for rider safety - you are a genius.
