My 2007 MP3 250 engine is fairly shot. Coolant has been mixing with oil for some time and Piaggio/Vespa service tech recommends a rebuild or an engine swap. Asking at $3000 or more and that's out of my range of what I'm willing to put in it.

Is there a post or place to find how to do either one myself? I've looked but come up empty. Also, what are my options for type of engine if an engine swap? I'm not knowledgeable about engines but willing to learn and try

Maybe 2-3 year ago I change the cylinder and top end for the malossi ones in my 250ie (plus variator and clutch), the best money I spend in my MP3. Is a completely different animal, more happy and responsive, no more laziness to climb or start.
The cylinder with top end € 728, if you like do it in full for the best put in the malossi clutch € 149 and the multivar 2000 variator € 123. Total € 1,000 and you have a completely new machine and a one that can move the MP3 weight with happiness and not with the lack of power I feel previously in the 250ie. Only smiles.
My 2 cents
