Modern Vespa

I recently posted a WTB ad for a GTS Solo Seat.

I received DMs from the following users indicating they had the seat available:

From the get-go there were many red flags. Moses 12 claimed he was writing on behalf of Jess. Ricardo 1 was willing to sell a solo seat for 130 shipped-way too cheap. The gmail addresses did not match their user names, or the names they were using in their emails. The fonts used in the emails were inconsistent and used that weird Chinese version of Times. Also, I noticed that they are both very recent new members with zero posts.

Both sellers were adamant that I send payment through PayPal Friends and Family.

With Moses12, I "accidentally" sent payment using Goods and Services, which resulted in my payment being immediately refunded and the seller again asking that I pay with Friends and Family. I declined.

With Ricardo1, the seller said he refused to accept Goods and Services payment. I called him out as a scammer. Never heard back.

If they won't take Goods and Services payment, then they're a scammer. It's that easy.

If the folks I called out are not scammers, then I will eat my hat and will offer a public apology. Except that's not going to happen. Because they're scammers.

I hope this helps someone avoid getting taken.

Although one claimed to be from California, and the other from Ohio, they both had IP addresses in NY. Both are now banned.
